8 so far in the poll (presuming those who don't want to give him time, don't actually want him at all). Would be interesting to know why you don't rate him and don't want him ?

I wouldn't expect, dull and boring in interviews to be one of them either

Sadly, the people who don't want him really will be influenced by his persona instead of his football.
Bit of an indictment on modern society. I blame Thatcher.

I wouldn't say I don't want him but there are a whole host of reasons why there might be better candidates:-

1) 10 years in management and he's only achieved two promotions, both via the play-offs.
2) 550 games as a manager and he's achieved an average of 1.42 points per game. That's the equivalent of Bryan Robson's managerial record with us.
3) Never managed at Premiership level
4) Never managed a "big" club with the different working enviornment and extra pressure that entails
5) His club want £1M compensation for him. Other managers with better credentials are available for much less or nothing.
6) No emotional bond with United. Has given no indication that he wants to join us. If he got the job and succeeded it would only be a stepping stone to another job (e.g. Wolves).
7) Lack of charisma (i.e. Dull and boring interviews) ;-)

1) In 121 years of existence, SUFC have never managed to win the play-offs
2) That's more than we're currently managing and it includes keeping Donny in the Championship and prospering
3) We're not at Premiership level
4) We're a rapidly contracting big club that's hardly back page news on the nation's breakfast tables
5) They want big money because he's rated
6) We don't want anyone with an emotional bond. We want a good manager regardless.
7) Who cares?

1) You ignored the main point - which was that he'd only achieved 2 promotions. We've been promoted numerous times and spent around half our history in the top flight
2) You can't claim 1.42 points per game is a good record - it isn't. Yes, he's now doing well with Donny but it took him a while to get to this level of "success". And success for Donny is midtable in the Championship - which would generally be a disappointing position for us (although I'd settle for it this season of course).
3) Clearly - but our aim has to be to get back there - Donny would settle for Championship survival
4) We are far bigger than Donny - and one of the biggest 20 clubs in the country
5) They want big money because he's done well recently
6) Agreed
7) Agree to some extent - but ideally would have a good manager who also comes across well

Personally, I'm not fussed either way about SOD. He's doing ok at the moment but he's been built up into something he clearly isn't by many. I'd be happy enough if he joined us - but I'd only give him a 2 year contract & I wouldn't pay £1m compensation.

Dulll and boring ,I actually find him interesting as a person ,he makes a lot of sense. I find his football ,watching defenders passing it about across the back four dull as hell.

I voted NO, I don't want him, but I would give him time and support him if Appointed.

I don't want him because we are potless and tend to struggle to play football let alone get results while playing football. We have a very thin squad and SO'D isn't the character we need right now to move the club forward. We Don't have the Players OR the Board room for a Sean O'Driscoll type Manager. We need money to get him.

I want Adams, he's the next best thing imo! Can play mix-it football and doesn't need a great deal of money to move us forward. Exactly the Manager we need.

All Managers get my support. I may not like them after some time or after so disrespectful comment, But I will lways support the Club regardless.

4 main issues for me:
- Don't waste too much money on his compo (all significant monies to be invested into new playing staff?)
- I don't think we can afford to buy the good footballers we need to get us up the table his way (everyone bangs on about Howard Kendall transforming us into a passing side overnight but I've got a feeling he spent quite a lot to do that (Hutchison record fee at the time etc??, David White not cheap etc)
- The time it would take to rebuild us (humdrum football and results in the meantime)
- Does come across in the media as weak

I think Micky Adams or Andy Scott would do a good job. Having said that I would support whoever got the job and would like to see the stytle of football improved...
