Before the match. I really can't face the Green Man again. Not after three disappointments. Last time the atmosphere was pretty manic. A fight broke out in front of us, someone had allegedly nicked the charity collection I think and he got decked by a big lad. It was like being in the school yard again, I'm sure someone shouted 'come on feight'

The Globe at Baker St. Couple of tube stops from stadium
Always good crack Pre games

Is that the one across the road from the Tube entrance? If it is then we were in there in 09. Must say it was much more civilised than the times I've been in 'the Torch'. Plus you can then just roll up at Wembley, well oiled and head down Wembley way singing your head off, mill around outside for a bit then head inside about 10 mins after Kick Off...

I'm almost wanting to go now.... but I will resist

Swiss, for goodness sake get a ticket bowt lad. What else will you do (I think the idiomatic expression is ) ffs??

Looks like we might be in the Globe then. Thanks Worksop.

Can't really complain about Green Man last time around, must say I didn't see any trouble though.

Just had a nice day sat out on grass in sun with mates surrounded by Blades.

Then the match started.......

Swiss that's the one. I too was there in 09. Good friendly banter. Always went there Pre England games.
No probs Eskimo .

We'll be in the Green Man.

I'd guess we'll be in Blarney Stone again before and after.
15 minute walk from ground.
If we win I think we'll be in Ripley town centre pole dancing till midnight.

I was away for Burnley, so my last Wembley trip was Palarse. Having queued 8 deep at several pubs, we opted for the off-liscence and some quality real ale (Boddy's, John Smith smooth etc ) and got psiied on Wembley way having a crack with all passing fans (ie prancing about with Blades, mildly abusing Palace).

It was a great occassion and I think we'll repeat it. Mind you, I'll be pissed before we get there. Never witnessed one of these games sober, and no plan to start this time.

:)

Damn right. You've got a username to live up to!

I wont struggle fella. I'm even taking the wife (yuck :)) to look after the lads this time. Mindyou, I'm taking a coachfull, so there'll be several more of us to look after.

:D

I was pretty much sober last time , a mistake I won't be repeating

The Torch was fine v Burnley big empty rooms with loads of bar staff geared up for serving ale .Not a wife and kids type place but for a gang of lads interested in supping it was sound an as we`d booked in we were able to park coach in car park behind and thus avoid car park nightmare

Yeah that's right the one at the side of the Baker St tube entrance is The Metropolitan (Wetherspoons) I was in those two boozers too. Seem to remember quite a few were in fancy dress outside the Globe, and a good mix of Blades and Burnley taking the piss out of each other.

Last time around we were in the kings head on albermarle street in Mayfair. Perfectly civilised and quick to get to the bar.

For purely superstitious reasons I suspect we won't be going there again....

At the risk of being unoriginal think I'll be going in the Green Man again. It gets stupidly busy (beer garden can probably hold 2,000 people) but they have a can bar thats fairly quick for service.

We'll be getting into Kings Cross at 10.30, we'll then be doing a Wethers pub crawl in the surrounding areas. Might not be full of Blades but at least we'll be able to get served and not ripped off at the same time :)

The Shakespeare's Head in Holborn will be making an appearance, it's our usual Wembley haunt.

I have to say I was really disappointed with The Green Man in 2009. Whether it was nerves or what, but the atmosphere I thought, was really flat. Plenty of drinking :) but not a lot of singing. I think we'll try getting off at Baker Street this time.

wetherspoons at victoria, then off to globe at baker st. globe 1st stop after game.

Can anyone recommend a family friendly pub no more than a tube ride away that'll be good for food?
