where do you stand now?

I never saw it as a great January to be honest. And so it’s shown.

Have we lowered expectation so much that buying a few league one players and not selling one of our better players is seen as a ‘great’ window? In the play off mix very much at that point too.

All boils down to that for me. Real shame.

It’s a good window with no money. No investment no progression.

With hindsight, Holmes and Wilson have been poor signings.

At the time, they seemed like logical signings, hence why people may have lauded a "great January"

Don’t necessarily think Leonard is a bad signing but he needs time to bed in and we needed an instant impact. Only Evans has provided that.

As Chali says, at the time, and without the benefit of hindsight, then we can certainly say that the players we brought in weren't exactly what we needed.

Can those acting all superior now find their comments from the time where they warned what a catastrophic window it would prove to be?

I'm sure many were a little surprised we brought in three midfielders, but I don't think many (if any) were lambasting Wilder for his business.

We didn't sell our star players and Wilder was able to reinforce with a number of signings he was keen to make. It was clearly a good window.

Have Leonard and Holmes been as good as we hoped they would be? No. It's a shame that not every one of Wilder's signings has turned out to be immediately brilliant, but it would be pretty unreasonable to expect that.

Holmes, Wilson and Leonard have been poor signings so far. Leonard may come good but the other two look like a waste of money.

Evans is inconsistent and needs to sort his concentration out. Too sloppy and gives it away too often.

BUT, Wilder has no money and trying to do business in January without money is extremely difficult.

BUT, the fact he's hardly played Holmes and Leonard, two players he chased for ages, is bizarre.

In his substitute appearances he was underwhelming and it seems to me he doesn't have the physicality to compete in the Championship.

I would have liked to see more of him first before making any judgements like yours pal. Like I say, the only game he's had more than a few minutes in was away at Wolves and he was pretty much our only threat. He strikes me as a player that has ability.

I did say when everyone was creaming themselves about doing our business early this January that the reason for that was possibly no one else at this level was interested in signing any of them.

Evans has had some good moments but also some shocking ones like the mistake that led to the goal today.

Leonard needs to have an impressive preseason.

Holmes has been waste of a signing and a wage.

Wilson should be utterly ashamed of himself.

The problem is that it's very difficult to get players in the January window.

You pay over the odds, even if you can get whom you want.

It might have been Shaun who rang RS a couple of weeks ago and said that a special player is needed, quoting Snodgrass as an example.

I'm afraid his kind are way beyond the pockets of all but the parachute outfits.

To maintain Wilder's ethos it's a general improvement which is required, needing the acquistion of several players.

That is possible in the summer, but almost impossible in January.

It's the loss of Coutts which has torpedoed things IMO, rather than January.

Maybe I've judged him too soon, but he struck as a player with definte ability but unable to make a real impact.

There were a few times where he knocked it past a player and then realised he didn't have the pace to retain the ball - we need more pace, not the opposite.

Agree we need pace, we have zero at the minute. But maybe he could play the Duffy role? Don't know but I think on the Wolves game he was worth a few more games. Maybe he ticked CW off?

Brooks are only players who can carry the ball with pace, we defintely need more.

I don't think him ticking Wilder off is out of the question either.

Wonder if Holmes is actually fit? Like people say Wilder knows him well so hardly going to be surprised by a shitty attitude or the like. Or maybe he just thinks he can't cut it, remember he was very pleased with the signing of Hussey but soon got rid

A brief forum search doesn't show anyone saying it was a "great January".

So God knows where these people are.

Probably would have played both of them much more if we hadn't been so close to the play-offs all the time ;)

It’s not worked in terms of those players making an impact, that’s for sure

However, to suggest that it was a failure is also way off, at least it’s still early.

Evans has come in, done a job there’s a player in there and more time needed.

Lenny and Holmes need to step up and force themselves into the reckoning much more.

Wilson, it’s just not worked for him.

Give them all, bar Wilson the summer and I’d hope they’re all looking like first teamers in August.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. It certainly didn't work.
Because up until now every game has been a 'must not lose game' and for months they've all been on a knife-edge.
If not for that, Wilder would have had a freer hand in team selection and would probably have mixed things up much more.
