for all the negative nellies

I'm sure the revenue will press the claim and so they should. But an administrator will then be appointed and Portsmouth will find a way out of the mess like clubs always do.
And I'd be fairly sure their ability to sell players as assets in a matter of a few months would be factored in.
I hope you are right and that the Judge is reasonable. However, below are the comments from Sky Sports business correspondent on the case:

Q: Would a winding up order mean full-blown liquidation of the club?

A Yes, it would spell the end of a club dating back to 1898. The court would not have the power to put the club into administration, which would have allowed the club to continue trading and protect it from its creditors. Instead, what we are talking about is the wholesale destruction of Portsmouth as a football club.

Q: What would happen to the players?

A: The players would have their contracts terminated and the assets of the club would be sold off. In all likelihood, very little would be recovered on behalf the creditors, which include the taxman and the players - who've already gone without wages on four occasions this season.

Q: So what are Portsmouth's options?

A: The club will try to persuade the court that it is under new ownership - its fourth owner in a year - and that it just needs more time to get its finances in order and turn things around. But in theory, this is a final hearing, and the judge may take the view that the club has had ample time already and so receivers will be appointed to immediately wind up the club.

Judge grants Pompey a 7 day extension to find the readies. No surprise at all.

so if the saints knock 'em out (and hence no cash generating cup run).. thats the end of them.. hmm.. that could be 'interesting'

And add Palace to the list.

If only running a successful club were so easy.

I bet if we shipped all the Chelsea players and Management into the Lane, the majority of gripers on here would still argue about their effectiveness.

Look at the disagreements over who plays for England. The best players in the country, yet people still moan they're not good enough. Beckham? Never been good enough. Terry.. too slow. Lampard... just rubbish.

So why, oh why do people think the Blades should be perfect? They're footballers. Sometimes they'll be good. Sometimes not. As long as they give 100% then I'll cheer them on.

Some people are never happy.

Portsmouth have enjoyed 8? seasons in the Prem and an FA Cup.
Cardiff have been in an FA Cup final.
West Ham have been in the Prem for the majority of its existence.
Reading finished near the top of the Prem three years ago.
Charlton spent a good decade in the Prem and could well be playing us next season.
Southampton spent a generation in the top flight, won the Cup just before they got in it, went to another cup final, are going to a final at Wembley this year, are in the 5th round of the Cup and could still be playing us next year.
Leeds have beaten Man U, took Spurs to a replay, their Prem and Champions League history is well known and will be playing us next year.
Sheffield United have spent one season in the Prem out of the last 15 or 16.

Yes, we've got underachievementitis bad, real bad. I don't think the fans of any of those clubs are thinking I wish we'd been Sheffield United for the last 15 years.

I think thats the first post i've ever agreed with of yours. I hope it's not catching ;)

And out of all those clubs, which ones have a real chance of being in the Premiership next season?

Not Pompey. The Hammers are looking decidedly precarious and the others have no chance.

So it looks like it's down to us then.

History counts for nothing. It's where you finish this season that matters.

And after that, it's where you finish the next season and so on.

Even with promotion there'll still be the moaners. It's what we're best at.

Jeez, why do people still post this kind of guff?
Which person in the history of time, never mind this forum, has suggested the Blades should be perfect?

You'd think as much, reading some of the guff on here and on FH. Don't mind a bit of healthy debate, but when the constant moaning at the Lane starts to spoil my enjoyment of supporting my team I have to say something.

Maybe i'm just getting too old and am less tolerant now, but i've always thought of our supporters as being just that. Supporters. Not now though.

Three clubs facing winding up orders today.

Portsmouth, Cardiff and Southend.

West Hams owners say players and staff face 25% pay cuts if they stay up

Reading in the bottom three and Charlton, Southampton and Leeds in division 3.

Still think we've got it bad?

Be positive and good things will happen.

I agree, things are bad - which is why I'm gutted my club has spunked £50M on ailing property ventures, yet when we had a shot at the premiership we could only spunk £1M on Luton Shelton.
