No I'm afraid the booing was directed at the players. And at one point the retards around was chanting "attack attack attack" like some american sport, when we was on build up play.
Pathetic fans.

Some of our fans are ridiculous at times.
I think some of them are more bothered about f*cking Wednesday!

I agree. If people were booing the team that is. Wont do any good will it, and its only the first game.

Same here.
Although i did hear someone say "bring warnock back".
I couldnt stop laughing.
I've been going long enough to see/hear the difference between booing at the ref and the team.
We have a selection of idiots at The Lane.
It hurts me to say it but it's true!

Didnt agree with the booing myself. Also im sure at half time the booing was directed at the ref rather than the players, but at full time there was no need after all its only day 1 and theres a long way to go! Oh and least we didnt lose!

I almost felt like going up to every boo-er on the Kop and punching their lights out, I mean COME ON!! It's only first game of the season, I wasn't happy with the result myself but I don't go booing!! If I boo, it's only ever at the ref or certain opposition players.

No need for the booing.
The first half was poor, but i didn't expect much else after a few months off.
Second half was better especially when tonge came on(and leggy came off).

If those around me on the Kop are a guide, Leggy is going to be this seasons early scapegoat. Can't understand those that would boo at the end of the first game, disappointing though it is to give away the lead twice. Tbh, I expected us to take a few games to settle down, relegated teams often do (and note Charlton only drew at home to Scunthorpe), and there were some positives today - if they get a few games together, I think Beattie/Sharp could be a good partnership.
Some booing and plenty of frustration at the end yes, but to be fair there was some good support too whenever we did anything promising.

I never boo the team, if i am unhappy with the performnace i will simply not applaud the boys off.
I cannot stand people taking the moral high ground and deciding who should be allowed to support the team and who should 'fuck off'.
I agree that booing is not helpful to the team but what gives you the right to decide that the poeple who choose to make their opinions known in this way should not come to bramall lane. I dare say that some of the people booing have spent more money following the blades then some of you complaining about them.
Football has always been the release of the working classes, perhaps this is less true today then in years past but i for one think that every single person has the right to express themselves however they see neccessary.

Where we were at half time, the booing was for the referee and it's generally easier to see who it's aimed at where we are, as we tend to wait until there's just the referee to come down the tunnel.
However, the people who were booing the team make us look like an arrogant and overly-expectant relegated team. It's good that we're expected to beat teams such as Colchester... but we don't have any divine right to. Some of these fans seem to think we can just turn up, get three points and it's job done.
We can't.
It's all about getting the team to gel together and play together. We've got a new manager and four new signings on the pitch out of the starting XI... some who only signed a week ago. What will those signings think they've walked into when after the first competitive 90 minutes they've played, they have a chorus of boos accompanying them off the pitch?
Hardly does wonders for the confidence does it?
Maybe it's just the way I am, but I prefer to take the positives out of everything. What's the point in going if you don't enjoy it? For me, it was a nice sunny day, plenty of old faces after the summer, some new faces coming to say hello and we had football back again.
And for all the pessimists out there, a point towards safety!
Your points are all valid linz, and i agree with everything that you have said. I just want to put the other side across, we might as well have a debate rather then collaboratively patting oursleves on the back for being more enlightened then the boo boys.
I would suspect that by purchasing a ticket, those supportes that booed see themselves as customers of sheffield united. They feel that the service that they received for said payment was below the standard that they feel was acceptable and so they provided direct feedback.
It will take time for the team/squad to gel but until they do we will have to put up with impatient comments from our fellow blades. If and when we do start performing and getting results, the chances are that you will still hear negative comments; thats football. Its a game of opinioins; each is no more valid then the next.
I am just glad that we have something to debate other then the new bar on the kop and which grounds we are looking forwards to visiting this season.
It was nice to hear the guys sat behind me on the Kop complaining about the moaners; it would seem that the boo-boys and idiots are in the minority at least. The cheering and positive chanting far outweighed the booing, which was a good sign - the atmosphere, for me, was fantastic yesterday and the booing at the end only marred it slightly (although I'm also of the opinion that at least some of it was directed at the awful referee).
