Does anyone recall that cheeky little lob flick thing he did 2nd half on Saturday? It was between Mooy and that long haired guy to O'Connell who was pushing down the left. It was sublime! As I turned to my eldest those magic words came out of my mouth... "It's just like watching Brazil!"... Only I actually meant it this time!... What a player he is! Very lucky that he's signed a new contract! UTB

Yeah I'm not sure what Lunny is playing at tbh. I've said it before but you'd think he'd want to pen the deal as soon as possible. CW has turned his career around this season.

I thought that was Stevens who did that in the first half?

I would imagine most of the delay is caused by his agent. They get an offer on the table from us then tout it round other clubs to see if they can better it.

It is all part of the negotiation process. We make an offer which we think is fair, they come back with what other clubs are offering and then a new deal is formed somewhere in the middle.

No surprise these things are taking longer now we are in the Premier League. Players know their own worth and have worked very hard to get here. They are not going to say yes to the first offer we put to them.

I’d guess he’s been tapped up by a club that has offered him more than we’re prepared to pay.

When I try to weigh it up though it just doesn't make sense to me. More money? Possibly yes. A better club than us? I highly doubt it. He's happy here, O'Connell is his best mate. And CW has said he's gonna activate the extension anyway. I feel like he should be signing here while the iron is still hot so to speak.

From a neutral perspective what’s so great about us? If I was a scouser who’d spent his first two years at a club I didn’t grow up supporting, being called shit by the fans, and Everton came in for me,offering me the chance to play for a club local to me, under one of the best managers in the world and for double what I was being offered by my current club, I’d snatch their hands off.

I think there's plenty going for us from a neutrals point of view.
From Lunnys personal perspective you'd think it would go like this. I've finally made it to where I want to be. It's been achieved through a combination of my hard work and CWAKs patience and development. It's my home now, my mates are here. It's s club on the up, a club looking to the future.... Where do I sign?!!

Realistically are any of the top 6 gonna come in for him? That's a no. Will Everton, Newcastle, Southampton, Burnley et Al? Possibly but won't be a guaranteed starter.
In all honesty the lad could quite easily end up back in the Championship. A dip in form after that and he's sat on the bench in the Championship.

And your last paragraph demonstrates why he should jump at the chance to maximise his earnings.
Because whilst I don’t disagree with what you’re saying, I’m fairly sure he’s aware of all that already and still hasn’t signed a contract. He’s not a guaranteed starter for us anymore, if I was him I’d be looking at Berge and thinking I’d rather earn £60k pw sat on someone else’s bench than earn £30k pw to sit on United’s bench.
 
I just think wherever he goes after would be a step down.
And yes I get that money makes the World go round but you've got to get the right balance in life. These lads don't really need to worry about money anymore if they're smart. I mean 30k a week! What a life that would be!... Your career should be the important part.

Let’s face it, most of us would jump at the chance to double your earnings, whether you’re on £30k a year or £30k a week. Particularly when you’re in your twenties. Maybe ten or twenty years later you change your priorities, if you can afford to, but I’ve been proper fucking skint before and it tends to affect your mentality towards earning money - i.e grab as much as you can while you can because you never know what’s round the corner.
And ‘wealth’ is relative. £30k a week would be a phenomenal amount for me but if all my colleagues were earning double for doing the same job, I’d feel hard done by. It’s human nature.

Yes! It was absolutely glorious. If it was Messi it would be a GIF by now! I'm actually surprised that its not a GIF yet given how quick our Social Media team have been this season

There was another fantastic bit of play he did as well and need to look back at the video to find it

I totally get the point of view. It's all relative.
My last comment (as it's up to Lunny I'm just saying I'm surprised) is that when your career is over it's the memories that the players will hold dear.
They are football fans too... Just so happens that they happened to have a knack for playing the game also.

The thing is though, you’re not analysing the situation to try and work out why Lundstram isn’t signing, you’re just constructing an argument as to why you think he should stay.
I’m a Blade, so if he asked me what to do, I’d say ‘sign a new contract with us’ but he’s not asking me so I’m looking at reasons why he hasn’t.

Give over. Messi does things like that every game, that’s why he’s the best player in the world.

I’m not convinced Fleck is in the top five.

You're absolutely spot on.

For me it was about earning as much as I could to feed the family, pay the mortgage, do the best for the kids that I could, have an annual holiday and watch the footy.

By the time I got to 48 the kids had left school, I hated the job, I hated living in Maidenhead and my priorities changed.

I chucked in my job, sold up and moved to Yorkshire with enough cash to buy a nice but much smaller house and started looking for a job when I got here.

Because I had no mortgage I could afford to get a job on the post paying about 20% of my previous earnings, but I absolutely loved it and did it for 12 yrs until an ankle fusion meant I was unable to carry on, at which point I retired thanks to the pensions from my previous life.

I now have a better life than I could ever have dreamed of as a council estate kid but the key to it was maximising my income potential at a young age and then having the scope to make lifestyle decisions in later life.

Lundstram would be daft to sign a contract with us IF he can earn substantially more elsewhere, whether he would play there or not because let's face it, he's not exactly guaranteed a place in our team at the moment.

All this talk about playing games is sentimental bollocks, like every footballer he needs to maximise his earnings whilst he can.

It's a short career, it could end tomorrow, and memories and medals don't pay the bills.
