Flat indeed...

change up in midfield required? what should we go for?

Defensively looked pretty good for most of the game, and yes our attack has obvious deficits in quality, but tactically i felt the place we got it wrong today was in midfield (wb’s included). We actually have a pretty good PL standard in this area of the field, so why did we get is so wrong?

Ben Osborn & John Lundstram aren't very good at this level. The shape needs tweaking though. Maybe lose a striker for another midfielder.

For me Fleck has to play. He's one of our only players that is press resistant: i.e he can keep the ball when we are being pressed in tight areas before fashioning a counter attack. He can also fashion an opportunity from a slow build up or second or third phase.. We need to bring Ampadu into the defensive midfield position and mover Berge right, or bring in another right sided midfield player and leave Berge in the centre.

Yeah need to see if Norwood on the sidelines has done anything positive in his play. Need to spread the ball more. Berge, Ampadu and Norwood is worth a try in midfield.

We've got arguably a PL defence right now but a Championship looking Mid and Atk.

Also as time goes on getting less confident of Ramsdale.

It’s much more flexible and adaptable than perhaps we realise. It depends hugely on wing backs and centre halves bombing on. But it also gives freedom for the LCM and RCM to run from deep sigh an element of surprise.

does it work all the time, no

Dont know why.wasnt his fault no chance with first .cant see him at fault with second .he made some good saves .distribution not great .but played as well as he cuold

Not saying about the goals but the whole performance in general. Just looks a bit too nervy and about a second off the pace. Not comparing ability but can you honestly say yet that you have the same confidence in Ramsdale as you would have in had in Henderson. He desperately needs a clean sheet to boost his confidence.

Our midfield is so deep. Every time ramsdale cleared the ball up our forwards they had 4 defenders and a midfielder against then, while our nearest midfielder was 40 years away.

It isn't good enough. It leaves the front two, far too isolated this season.

For the system to work, we need Norwood and Fleck on form. Norwood is not being picked and Fleck is off form.

A mistake from CW in the transfer window was not finding an attacking/driving midfielder to improve upon Fleck (or at least be good competition for him). Unfortunately, the replacement for Fleck is a defensive one (Osborn) so we become very flat, without a Fleck type in there.

or you could say the mistake was letting freezy go?

Not playing fleck is hampering us Berge in Dm but we lack that attacking flair

In my view we are simply not creating enough chances. It has to change, particularly at home to Fulham.

I’m also extremely irritated that Berge is our most naturally gifted footballer and seems content to drift through games. I know he’s young, settling in, shows moments, getting used to finally being played in the middle etc.

But he’s replaced our most important player and is frankly not doing enough.

Will wait for pommpey to address it in his my take... But my word, playing 3 in midfield is causing us absolute carnage.

Need 4 or even 5 in midfield to balance out our lack of quality.

4-4-2 or 4-5-1 or something, please no more 3 in midfield getting stretched and just turning it over time after time, it's literally unbearable to watch

Today was another poor performance with not 1 shot on target!

But, with the defence we had out there it was never going to be different.
