Lots on here have got to remember that fanzine. Is it still going at all?
An old distant friend of mine used to have a lot to do with it (mr davenport?) lived at Woodsetts (not woodseats) I used to meet him at parties and games occasionally.
For some reason i cannot find the few copies i had to reminisce. I remember one piece that was so funny, if anyone has a copy to put on here it would make so many laugh.

Hitler was a Wednesday Fan.

As a reward for crawing around on my hands and knees and sweating profusely in his attic last week, Bladesway gave me a cluster of old editions. I'll check and see if the article in question is there for you Boo.

Thank you.

I used to know Matthew Bell quite well, and he 'announced' several years ago that he, Kev and the rest were "too old to hang around outside selling, and the pubs are open too", or words to that effect. I've got loads of old copies scattered around, so I'll have a scout about too. I seem to recall that particular piece as well. Didn't it end up as a bit of a feature?

It's still been in circulation this year, Selling some of this years edition's from Jumbo Records in Leeds of all places. Didn't notice the latest date though.

You can still buy it on match days at Orstel News on Shoreham Street. Matt & co gave up selling on street corners a couple of years ago (the Flashing Blade that is :-)
Next edition is out for Burnley match. And only a quid too. Still a good read and a change from some of the drivel ridden shite (in the guise of opinion) posted in here by some individuals.

Bit harsh. Think Trigger still sends the odd article in.......

The last copy I saw was April 2009.

Whilst I commend everyone concerned for their efforts a lot of the stuff was months out of date when it appeared, and many of the articles were in the "stating the bleeding obvious" category. Sadly it could never compete with the internet.

Well, whoever it will be he'll be shit, because that conniving 'ker McCabe will have flogged him first time anyone comes knocking if he's any good.

No-one tells me to chill the fuck out....:hello:

Ive got pretty much every one since issue 3. Used to write a fair bit for it as well.

You're being a bit generous with the timeframe there old fruity, it's some time since I did anything and a long time since the prolific days. Somehow, being self-employed and needing to graft a bit has restricted my output from those days when I could loaf at work and muse about the red and white wizards.

As somebody else mentioned, there are no matchday sales anymore and it's impossible for a fanzine to compete easily in this day and age. Oddly enough, I was only thinking recently how Matt could try and use material from here to eke out what people still send in to him, although he does have the tie-up with Bladesonline.

I used to contribute a fair bit too for a couple of years around the same time as you Trig. I'm struck by what a clapper I was.....

I always used to buy the flashing blade when I was at University in Manchester, there was a Sporing bookshop in the centre where I could always get a copy. I always used to struggle to get a copy at the lane.

Perhaps if there was a shop/ pub in Sheff where we all knew it was on sale then it would do better sales for less effort

The Golden Lion sells the match programs behind the bar and I always prefer to buy it there instead of around the ground.

Got to say (perhaps with some biase) that flashing blade was one of the better fanzines, living in a house with a number of supporters of different clubs I used to read quite a few random ones.

It's still sold in the newsagents on Shoreham Street behind the Kop.
