First line of GCB over the PA

I don't tend to join in with the GCB (or any other songs) as much as I used to. That may be partly down to the fact that I go on my own to matches more these days as most of my old cronies have either moved away, go with their kids or have stopped going completely .

Looking forward to taking my little boy in the future and getting him singing them.

I like the GCB being played/sung at kick-off. Doing it again at the start of the second half is overkill, IMO.

Did we used to have Van Halen's 'Jump' instead of Star Wars once upon a time, or did I imagine that?

I also hate the way the players just walk out and line up these days, remember when they used to charge out onto their pitch. I know we can't do anything about it but something like this would be cool: (ignoring the fireworks and smoke)

Something that gets you pumped

All I can say is that I never promised you a rose garden
Played in the build up to KO last week.
The GCB, I have been saying for years it needs a 2nd verse.
We like to think we have some of the best fans but the debate about this just goes to show how far we have fallen in terms of inspiration. The apathy about where we are, leads to the shit atmosphere at home games. If the football looks great people get excited and let themselves go a little and sing more.
Promotion promise after Christmas should see a build up in vocal support in many ways and people will want to sing GCB. It will still need a second verse.
The one song I have never sung and never will is that stupid Boxing day song that highlights the most glorious victory of our main rivals over us.

Might be an idea for Gary Sinclair to read out the teams earlier too, like they do at EVERY AWAY GROUND, instead of waiting for the teams to run out then rushing through them.
SOME OF US WANT TO KNOW THE AWAY SIDE GARY!!!!, and need more than 45 seconds to process it in our brains.

They read them out early at this weeks youth cup tie, AND just before kick off.

And what`s with that `bongo` music that gets played in the 5 mins between the last record, and the teams coming out, what is that? has Sinclair got royalty rights on it?

Rant over

Sinclair caters for his own generation and no one else.

What was all that country shit he was playing last season? made me want to kill myself.

they play the whole Gerry and the Pacemakers record at Anfield, it starts with the verse, "When you walk through a storm hold your head up high....." only then does the crowd come in, most of it just for the chorus. The crowd only ever sings the chorus during matches.

They play much more of the record at Liverpool than they do of 'Annie's Song' at BDTBL - mainly because the Greasy Chip Butty Song only shares 5 words with Annie's Song, whereas 'You'll Never Walk Alone' is sung with the original words.

They play the record before every match......just for the record.

I liked it best when the teams ran out separately and we could boo and cheer accordingly (obviously, that would cause confusion for one or two on here ). It at least gave the impression of a battle between two teams, whereas now it's all very "How do you do?"

As for tempo, I'm not sure crowds can manage to sing quick songs in unison, Greasy Chip Butty is marked - moderato , You'll never Walk Alone - andantino molto cantabile - (I haven't the foggiest).

As for 'country-crap', well John Denver was a country singer wasn't he? and as for 'Americanised', well they are both American Songs, we sing an Anglicised version of Annie's Song.

The version of 'Ikley Moor bar t'Hat' was a hideous version sung in a Disneyfied American accent and its the same for Judas Priest's 'United' which in common with most English pop is regrettably sung with an American accent with a glottal stop instead of a 'T' - uni*ed.

Both are inappropriate - mind you, I'd change the white rose to a football on the badge personally - didn't Derbyshire used to start on t'other side of the River Sheaf?

you always knew when we were coming out because the ball boys would run out just ahead of them.. (made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up just thinking about it that did)
