I liked him , although I never heard him sing .

Was it the song that Man City had for him ?

" Singing aye aye yippee Sun Jihai
Singing aye aye yippee Sun Jihai
Singing aye aye yippee, his mother's got a chippie
Singing aye aye yippee Sun Jihai "

In a similar vein to Brian Howard, Leon Britton. Great little sub cameo debut.

Mind you, I'm not sure he was entirely dogshit. Just dogshit for us.

Britton was 'in the wrong place at the wrong time' for us. After playing 295 times for Swansea, he played under four managers within the space of five months at the Blades and eventually asked to return to his former employer, stating that his previous transfer had been a "mistake" and that he "should never have left Swansea". Back there, he played another 166 games for The Swans (mostly in the PL), so obviously had summat abaht him.

I'll start with Brian Howard. Was awesome for Barnsley and then in that brief sub appearance on debut, looked like we'd pulled off a stormer.

Thing is he didn’t actually do that much on his debut. If I recall he managed to find a few players with short passes and didn’t play it long.

That was all that was required at the time to make us coo over a player.

Peter Hetherston. Arrived from Scotland as the next big thing. Hit the post or bar about 15 times in a dozen or so matches and then disappeared back to the sweaties.

Steve Finnieston was the answer to our long standing centre forward issue. Looked decent initially, turned out to be made of balsa.

Got to add John Ebbrell
Our million pound first
Looked fabulous for 10 minutes
Then stretchered off never to be seen again. What was at the time 5 seasons worth of investment gone

I would agree John Ebrell

I was gutted when Tony Tony Tony Agana left for Warnock's Notts County, but unfortunately his injuries would hamper his career.

Shipperley played a big role in us getting promoted that year - thought he did a really good job myself! For someone who was clearly nearing the end of his career.

I’ll always remember Leicester shitting themselves when he cane on against them, think it was first game of the season, scored a great header..

Was good for us in my opinion..

At the risk of blashpemy, how about a certain Mr Sharps second spell? By no means all his fault and definitely a victim of circumstance; the idiots we had in charge at the time deciding to play him on the wing for example., But he was the great white hope at the time; a genuine goal scorer, one of our own that could become a legend. Thankfully, he got there, just about 8 years later than expected.
See Kevin Blackwell

Jonas Wirmola, made his debut v Wimbledon at Bramall Lane, bullied John Fashanu and never gave him a kick all game. Sadly a performance never to be repeated.

Paul Coutts seemed to be here forever before blossoming into the most valuable player in the squad, before having his leg broken at Burton :(

I often wondered (at the time anyway!) why he went back to Sweden so soon having looked so composed at the Lane? I saw the Wimbledon game and he looked good in his other games too and it's not like we were blessed at centre half because, with all due respect to two Blades favourites, Gayle and Beesley were past it. Dave Tuttle was the other and he looked class, shame he got injured and then we sold him.

When we signed florent Cuvellier I was adamant he was just what we needed.

Add James Wallace to that who past managers had said he was PL quality if he could just stay fit....

I expected more from the Higgopotomus
I was disappointed to lose Lee Evans
I obviously know sweet fa

One player I knew was shite and I was right was Jon Cullen. You youngsters can google him.

His overhead kick against Preston, at home, was pure genius.

A lot of these do turn out to be strikers – I also thought Hayles was a really shrewd signing at the time.

I’m going to go with Iffy Onuora. The minute he was linked I thought he was perfect – exactly the right person to partner Asaba, reigniting their successful strike pairing at Gillingham. While you’d never wish injury on anyone, his season-ending injury a handful of games in paved the way for Wayne Allison to emerge as the hero.

I think his last game was away against Wimbledon at Shelhurst Park, no body had a good game that day.

Back then I used to go to the away games on Kaz's coaches and some how we managed to blag our way in to their players lounge for drinks after the game, you could tell from looking at Jonas that he had played his last game.

That game at home against Wimbledon when he bullied Fashanu was one of the best debuts I've ever seen, you could hear the sound of the post when he bashed the Fash in to it from the Kop :-)
