well it's a milestone for me, after being a Hearts fan for so many years, last night was the first time I watched another league club play where I wasn't watching from the neutral perspective. And I have to say it was an enjoyable experience!
Had to ask the barman in the pub I was in to change channels since for some reason the rugby was first choice of viewing. Got some funny looks when I plonked myself down in the pub, the only one actually watching the game on the big screen!
Still, by the time a few of my mates turned up and I explained WHY I was watching a Blades game (a few confused looks I'll add
) I'd amassed a little crowd of folk watching the match (I'd like to think it was my charesmatic passion that caused this but really I think it was because there was bugger-all else happening in the pub!).
Okay, now for my first impression of the game...first ten minutes, I liked the fact that United went for it (considering I'd heard Preston are difficult to break down at home?) and played some decent 1-2 passing football. Then it went a bit flat? Got to say I wasn't impressed with the defending up until half time (bit of a sloppy back pass as well) BUT in saying that, the second half was great! Came out the blocks and looked up for the fight. Beattie was not so good when he came on but that shot (not sure who hit it) was a roaster!
So, all in all, it was an enjoyable game and I look forward to your home leg (on Monday night?)
I think I made the right choice
All the best,
Andy
