The manager?
Yep, I'm not calling for him to be sacked, but he seems to have a massive inferiority complex when it comes to playing the good championship clubs away

Nothing wrong with keeping it tight, plenty of away teams do, a non league team would have defended at Middlesboro too, but they'd have also provided Middlesboro with more problems than we did.

And that is the problem, nobody seems to be able to think about both sides of the game. Wilder must say keep it tight, defend well, row Z, back in numbers.
And that's it, our total contribution to an away game in a nutshell.

And a televised game is always even worse, it's as though he wants everyone to say "Sheffield United, what a bunch of boring bastards they are, thank fuck I don't support them"

While ever we’re not scoring or scraping 1-0 wins we’re precariously close to losing games. The 1-0 wins have really papered over our weaknesses in the team, lack of creativity, positivity and a formation that enables us to control games.

How many great performances have we had this season regardless of the wins?

Wilder needs to look at how we’re playing offensively because it’s not working, Hamer out of position for a start needs to be changed and also the players that haven’t been effective, Ohare and Moore need to be dropped.

I like Moore and O'Hare, but it's not working for either.
O'Hare was playing CF with Brewster out wide on the left. Luckily he changed this at HT but it didn't affect the game.

We have too many players in wrong positions - Hamer on the left is another.

At the moment we are trying to force players into the starting XI as opposed to playing players that fit. We have Rak-Sakyi so we HAVE to play wingers, but he doesn't play a 2nd winger. Why not play Brooks? Probably as that would mean dropping Hamer.
Why play Hamer on the left and not CM/CAM? Because that would mean dropping Arblaster, Souza or CO'H.

We're blessed with individual talent and so far he hasn't found a formation which enables us to absolutely murder a team - we're definitely capable of it.

Moore isn't playing well as he's isolated and used as a target man. This isn't his game - it wasn't McBurnie's either. He needs a 2nd striker closer to him. O'Hare isn't that man. O'Hare needs a free attacking mid role - which he ends up doing. Whilst doing that, he leaves Moore alone.

I'd play Hamer CM as a box-to-box player. This would mean only Souza or Arblaster operate as the deep lying player:

Or... if we are wanting to get the best out of O'Hare and Hamer linking up. we sack the wingers off, but that would mean dropping our most influencial player - Rak Sakyi:

We didn't do anything like enough Vs Leeds. But I do think Leeds are also obv a good side.

Boro are too but that same old story of not really taking advantage of being on top or opportunities paid true.
We looked the slightly better side I thought for opening 15-20. We then had a goal line clearance and fluffed a glorious gifted opportunity when McCallum had nicked the ball in their area.

At this point the game opened up more but we seemed to get sloppier as well.
Seemed to be the way the rest of the game went.

Truth be told I remember thinking earlier in the season that we need to capitilise on chsnces and stop giving the ball away under no pressure as better teams will take advantage and I feel that's the case now.

I think the small squad is starting show too. We made some good signings this summer but just not enough. Find it baffling we didn't at least bring in a loan for another striker.

These two away games were always gonna be tough. We need a response and to be honest a win vs. Stoke because we've got another 2 tricky away days before the derby.

I think we’d all do similar mate but for some reason Wilder won’t

the over view oF the whole seaso ,,,, youd have to put leeds away and boro away as 2 of 10 loseable games,, We win satdi and leeds lose away and we are level with them again

you look at the fixtures over 46 , not 2

I note Wilder is saying it was fine margins last night but that Ayling clearance aside we weren't dangerous for much of the game. On the other hand, Boro had twice as many shots as us and dominated much of the game. We also cleared one off the line.

It's a poor excuse. They were the better team. They looked more likely to score than us. Not fine margins.
