Favourite moment of our Premier League 2019/2020 season

So many amazing moments, but I think Billy's last minute goal in our first game of the season was my favourite moment. The reward of years of hard work from him & our club.

Egan slipping against Liverpool but then trying to tackle someone with his head summed up the desire of this team, made me laugh out loud and tingle with pride.

The last minute equaliser at Chelsea, so unexpected and was a party atmosphere outside the grounds, fans chanting 'Moose!!'

The rest of the season upto covid and the 3 game run after. But not the same as was not there.

Slowly but surely seeing more and more of the jeb-ends that predicted us to finish 20th admit that they’d never seen us play & expose what I’ve suspected for years - pundits steal a living.

Oh, and Moose going for a petite sojourn through the Man U defence and curling it into the bottom corner with a delightful continental loucheness.

Moose putting Phil Jones on his fat arse, Callum’s amazing assist for our equaliser against Man U and Billy’s goal celebration, telling the Norwich fans to shut the fuck up.

There have been several....most of which have been mentioned already;

First half v ManU at the Lane, Mooses goal in particular

Seeing the football gods shaft West Ham in our favour

Mullering Spurs

Chelsea away 2nd half and all of Chelsea at home

So just to add another to that list......

Burnley at the Lane ... They are a team who many would, perhaps rightly say that we should look towards, as an equal in the division. Yet the manner in which we just blew them away in that first half, should have dispelled any lingering suspicions, anywhere, that we weren't completely at home in this league and a force to be reckoned with on our day. Fooking loved it.

What a season!!! 12th September can't come quick enough now, and I am intrigued to see how this transfer window pans out.

A few more performances like Burnley at home would suite me. Even game till the first goal, then demoralise them with 2 more just before half time, then completely control the second half.

Not the most entertaining football this year, but consistent performances like that are where champions league qualification comes from.

Many, many moments.

Off the top of my head the ones that stick in my mind are:

1. Billy Sharp's late equaliser against Bournemouth. Very pleased for him, but more importantly that late equaliser seemed at the time to me to feel very important and sort of set the tone for the season.

2. David McGoldrick's two goals against Chelsea. Apart from being our result of the season, very pleased for McGoldrick to get off the mark and contribute to such a good win. No more than he deserves.

3. Beating West Ham. I can now finally move on. I really did feel we were cheated out of the Premier League 13 years ago. Along with many of our supporters I have experienced a lot of gut wrenching relegations over the years, but that one was for me the hardest one to swallow. We were cheated and given no support from those in authority whose duty it was to support us. They abdicated their responsibilities, West Ham profited and we suffered a blow that really knocked the stuffing out of us which I feel affected us for several seasons afterwards. Ever since then I have wanted us to beat them, and yet I have dreaded every game against them. Irrational I know, but somehow it seems that if you lose they are in some way vindicated. So knocking them out of the league cup after a penalty shootout was sweet and as far as I am concerned Doyle is a legend for ramming home that deciding penalty and then doing the Walk. However it wasn't a win in the true sense of the word. A great result by a third division side against a first division side, but in reality it was a drawn game with a win in a mechanism that takes place after the game to decide who goes into the next round.

Our away draw this season was satisfying especially after being behind, but again it wasn't a win.

However, the Bramall Lane match was a win and a win with a twist. A late 'goal' for West Ham ruled out for handball. On the face of it an injustice for West Ham. In reality (regardless of Moyes claiming the decision was a bad decision) as the current laws of the game stand it was a correct decision to rule the goal out. But the fact that there was some misplaced controversy went some little way to redressing the hurt of years gone by. Just a shame it wasn't a result that relegated them. But, you can't have everything!

Definitely Chelsea away second half. That’s when they realised they deserved to be in the Premier League.
