I speak for myself only, I am not what the star refers to as a "militant supporter".
I am not interested in a managers/ players past association with any of our local rivals. If anything I always enjoy it when they come to us because it urbs their noses in it when they do well.
The furore about Wilson, for me is purely based upon his record. Sure he had a couple of brief spells at Hartlepool and Barnsley where people got giddy. But on the whole, his record is poor.
Is it an over reaction? I don't believe so. Those that are aware of my posting, I am normally trying to see the positives in what the club do. But this situation is different. I didn't think Micky had been given a fair crack in 4 months and I bit my tongue awaiting McCabe to pull this one out of the bag...
It looks like we've gone cheap again, should I be surprised? Probably not, but if McCabe has taken responsibility for where we have now ended up, then I firmly believe that he must pay the price for this.
Does paying the price mean stepping aside? Absoultely not. He needs to appoint the right man. Roberto Di Matteo was that man, otherwise why mention his name after Micky had gone?
I bought my ST because I am a Blade and I support the club, but I also expect the club to recipricate the loyalty of 10,000 ST holders by not always taking the cheap way out. Is it too much to ask? It seems it.
Don't get me wrong, I've stood by these cheaper options in the past and watched us slowly accept 2nd best time and time again, i've even supported it, because I thought (hoped) that we could do the Blades trick of scraping by.
The daftest thing about this is that Blades fans are willing and ready to support their club in numbers, almost 30,000 for the Youth cup final at the lane, 6000 away fans to Old Trafford, 7000 away to Palace a couple of seasons back. So why are we getting the rough end everytime.
I am completely at a loss with this appointment, I can find no positives and as such I have not intention of giving this man a chance. Perhaps Wilson will storm up the leagues to the PL and we'll be in Europe in 10 years. But its yet another gamble and one that I am not prepared to stand by.
I spend £300 on my season ticket and make it back from Switzerland for almost every weekend home game (and some away), I plan my weekends around Blades games and I was prepared to do the same next season AND go to more away games, much to the disgust and dismay of my lass. But when it costs between £180-400 each time I come back then I will be choosing my weekends back more wisely and not as blindly as before.
My support of McCabe has gone, my support of Wilson will never be there.
Sorry McCabe this appointment has just lost one of your few remaining supporters.
