I sat on their grandstand for the worthington cup game in 2000. A Blade a few rows down to my left cheered when we scored and got punched and spat on before being escorted out.

I was only 14 at the time so was never gonna get mullered. A few mates from school saw me “What you doing on the home end?” Nobody said owt. I was with a mate of mine and his dad who were both pigs.

I went on their kop for the zenith data with my dad and brother .we all agreed to keep quiet but when we scored I jumped up and Cheered but before I had chance to regret my impulsiveness I realised we were pretty much stood next to a group of blades who were pretty much acting like they normally would

We'd blagged tickets from Macro who sponsored the match so were in the John Street box. Around an hour till KO, we decided to go up and see how the crowd was building up. The kop was absolutley rammed - with Man. U. fans. I wondered about my dad who always stood in the same spot - near the back of the kop, towards the cricket pitch side.

Back then, he used to wear a collar and tie for matches - quite common then. When he got home - about two hours later than normal - his collar was up in the air and his tie was pulled to one side. I asked him 'You never stood in that lot, did you?' He said 'I bloody did. I always stand there!'

Seen our kop threatened three times. Against Leeds, Newcastle and would you believe it Leicester! I and others actually got shifted against Leeds to JSS so the coppers could get in to "restore order". Every Derby I attended on the Kop had a bit of "drama" when a daft Pig decided to give it large, but there was never any mass movement from them unlike the big clubs.

Seen it swamped 3 times just against Man U. First time was around mid-sixties and we were forced into the bottom corner and subjected to a hail of bottles, brick. coins, snooker balls, the fucking lot for 90 minutes. It was those bastards who started the whole hooligan thing off due to the numbers who travelled with them and congregating on the home end. They didn't "take it", they just filled the fucking thing up and other clubs followed suit as it was seen as a bit of a wheeze in those days.

It would take too long to detail the number of clubs that took the 'East Bank' before segregation. The problem that Wednesday have always had is that they never had levels of support commensurate with the capacity of the ground, and consequently, any club arriving in Sheffield with a decent following could and did take their end. They simply didn't have the numbers to defend it. Obviously, certain clubs - principally Man U and Leeds - took it every year as a matter of course, but some ostensibly less naughty outfits like Wolves, Leicester, and Birmingham helped themselves. Embarrassing.

As for the Blades, Easter Monday in 1970/71 promotion season springs immediately to mind, when the East Bank was red and white literally from corner to corner. The home fans were hiding in the stands that day.

The League Cup match under Warnock was also notable for there being so many United fans in the North Stand, that the Police decided that they wouldn't throw them out and instead just moved them into the side nearest Leppings Lane and put a line of Police between the opposing (this is the game of which their OCS spokesman, Douggie said, on "Football Factories", "there were thousands of 'em; quite frightening really").

One thing I do remember is a pig with his girlfriend stopping outside the cricketers raising his arms aloft and singing Wednesday, Wednesday Wednesday etc (Think it was the 2-2 beattie free kick game )

I was stood right next to him and there were loads of lads outside the pub yards away from him but they couldn't do anything as tgere was a load of coppers stood in between them

That Easter Monday game isn't mentioned on PT as far as I can see. That's because anyone who was there knows United had al the centre and left ( facing the pitch) and the Pigs couldn't shift us.

I went to that game and I was put in the stand next to leppings lane
Was amazed when the copper asked if we were United or Wednesday, I was going to say Wednesday so we didn't get thrown out but my mate got in fiest and tge plod showed us which gangway to walk out and it was full of blades

The game I quoted was 1970/1 when they took most of the ground as they were top of the old Div 2, They still talk about us never turning up in the town centre whenever there's a derby game and only managing to get to games through underground tunnels.
