I want fans back as much as the next person. I’ve missed going to watch the blades with my dad on a weekend it’s a ritual we just can’t share anymore and watching it on tv just isn’t the same. But after today’s game I really feel fans are a competitive advantage in how they can put pressure on officials and lift their team. My point is is it fair for certain teams to be allowed this competing advantage and not others?

You can still bond with your dad.. You don't need football. Why not make a fence or watch porn together?

I agree with that.

Even more bizarre that Hallam can have up to 300 fans yet we can't have any down at the lane.

Yeah that’s been an inconsistency since the start of the season I’d imagine it was done as the government didn’t want the bad press which they’d have got for hundreds of non league clubs going bust.

Currently 150 max at Step 6 Hallam. As mentioned, Project Restart has clearly demonstrated that Premier League Clubs don't need fans to be financially viable.

Well pre the recent lockdown it was 300.

I think in the Premier League, where gate receipts aren’t as vital for the club’s existence, then until every club can have supporters in, no club can.

There shouldn’t be an advantage to any side on the basis that they just happen to be located in a Tier 2 area.

The outraged baying of Brighton fans yesterday (in conjunction with the players mobbing the ref and the 'victim' of a legitimate tackle screaming like a girl), was definitely a contributing factor in the decision to issue a card, before Stockley park decided that slo-mo replays made it look worse than it was.

The fans played their part in that red card and therefore gave Brighton an advantage. If that was at BL, we would have done exactly the same, but we can't and therefore its an unfair advantage.

Fans should not be allowed in premier league grounds, even 2000 give a big advantage to sides especially when chasing an equaliser as we saw yesterday. Football wherever possible should be played on a 'level playing field', I know that may not be the case when it comes to financial situations but this is one area that can be fair.
Our next game at the Lane is against Everton, no fans allowed in, had it been played at Everton then fans would be allowed in.
Liverpool being in tier 2 and Sheffield in tier 3 is not football's fault, neither is the decision to allow fans into sports in tiers 1 and 2, however the premier league did not have to agree to do it.
Having said all that, the clubs themselves do not seem to say agreat deal about it one way or the other.
With what is going on at the moment with the virus, I am pretty sure that all fans will be banned from all grounds

It's a joke really that you can have 2k in a stadium, but can't travel to visit your family at Christmas. As much as I love football and would love to be there, it's just yet another decision which undermines the Govt's 'strategy' (I say strategy, but there's nothing strategic about it).

Back on topic though, I do think it plays so part (it'd be good to see the stats on win % for team with fans, so far). At the game yesterday, the Brighton fans seemed to be claiming for every single decision. This surely has an impact on the referee in their decision making, but also the players.

I saw someone rightly post on Twitter last week that playing behind closed doors is used as a punishment in normal circumstances, so there's an acknowledgment that there is a handicap in doing so. Because of that, it should be the same across the board.

Any vocal support from the side lines does offer an obvious advantage. A good lawyer could run a coach and horses through this grossly unfair situation. I can’t quite believe the Premier league can allow it to go on.

They’re certainly leaving themselves open to some last day of the season controversy. I guess it’s only the same as the fa cup last year though with some games having var and some not. Completing competitions under the same conditions in every match just doesn’t seem to be a priority anymore personally I think that’s a shame and could set a dangerous precedent in future.

Fans an advantage ?

Yes when they are behind you
This is my general thought at the moment, yes it’s unfair in one respect, but in our current situation, would the voices of discontent have led Ramsdale (and others maybe) to be completely ruined mentally. Might even have seen Wilder resigning. As it is now, they just have to avoid social media.

grounds are predominantly outside , visiting family is inside in much smaller spaces ,is the thinking

in some grounds here the expectaion is high , when teams arent winning crowds can be more of a hinderance

Do you really think “these voices of discontent” would be allowed to go unchallenged at the match. My mate thinks he’s the biggest waste of money ever. But if he got up and started booing him there would be 50 odd Blades around him (me included.)Telling him to sit down shut the fuck up. These keyboard warriors would disappear up their own arses at the lane.

I agree, although I do remember the ironic cheers whenever Long made an easy catch, when he was scape goated.

There are plenty of dickheads that like to get on our own players backs in the flesh and not just the warriors on here.

Most likely an individual would be challenged, I have no idea, depends on the collective number of those who have had enough at that particular time. I’ve witnessed several thousand having a go, so don’t see why it wouldn’t happen again.

I’d personally rather the keyboard warriors remain online and not make their feelings known during a game.

Unfortunately a collective sigh or a groan by 30k people at the same time always sounds bad. But it certainly doesn’t mean the last person to touch the ball ( or not in Ramsdales case). Is actually incurring the wrath of the crowd.

My parents live to our right. Grandparents to the left. ;)

We're averaging more points with opposition fans, than we are without them.

We would actually surpass Derby's points total based on our average points per game with fans in. So they must be allowed to attend at all costs.

Facing front or rear elevations? 🤔
Or is this a quasi political statement?
By the way your statement on parental bonding was 'Spot On', also liked the tongue in cheek delivery. Always leave 'em smiling.

Hi Yogi, I’d argue it’s a completely different situation to the FA cup as neither team had the ‘benefit’ of VAR and it was therefore a completely level playing field whereby neither team was disadvantaged. Here some teams have fans and some don’t, in my opinion it is completely different. Every commentator and journalist I’ve heard has commented about the positive atmosphere fans have brought to the stadium. I’m not saying it would make a difference to us, we have clearly missed our fans but we can’t blame lack of support for our shocking points tally. However, I think it gives Fulham a distinct advantage over say WBA or Burnley.

I was just suing the FA as an example of a competition not conducted under universally the same conditions for every match and yeah it definitely gave Brighton an advantage at the weekend.

Fair comment. They seem to be making it up as they go along, like the government! I can understand fans being reintroduced as quickly as possible on the lower leagues as the revenue could mean the difference to some clubs surviving or sadly folding. The revenue from 2,000 fans to a premier league club doesn’t make a jot of difference but in a game of fine margins, the advantage could be telling. For me it’s all or nothing.
