‘Every relationship has its ups and downs, but what if there was a better way of measuring how clubs engage with their fans?

One supporter has developed a method to judge how each of English football's professional clubs rank in terms of fan engagement.’

So a single individual has made up his own criteria and we don’t perform well according to it.

It's like General Chat......

So a single individual has made up his own criteria and we don’t perform well according to it.

"So on a scale of 1 to 10, how well does your favourite team look in green and yellow?"

"How does your club, known as the canaries, communicate with fans?"

"What is the best professional league club in the whole of Norfolk, for fan engagement?"

An entirely arbitrary set of criteria.

Nothing "engages" the fan more with the club than some success. Who cares about anything else, like the number of fan meetings there are? You'd have to really love things like committees to get off on this. And for the really enormous clubs like Man Utd how is it even possible to rank them on bleeding club governance?

I imagine Leicester scored fairly highly because they issue clackers.

What a load of bollocks. I may be doing the guy a disservice but it suggests to me he's an attention seeker and probably has a vlog.

It’s as relevant as the player ratings on whoscored.com.

Top guy, top player. Best feel have for a favourite striker since Deano.

The last time we had a fan engagement at BL the Kop started singing does she take it up the arse.........

This was for one of those shit tv shows wasn't it? I didn't realise until I saw the show a few years later

Well there's no methodology given, and when I followed the link to the website...that gives no methodology. I downloaded a copy...there's no methodology. It outlines the various concepts by which it awards points up to a maximum of 240, but it doesn't explain anything about how the points are awarded or why.

It does assure me that if I were to get in contact with them that they'd love to talk to me but, as presented, this doesn't even pass the smell test for a remotely interesting piece of work. It is completely arbitrary and no explanations for individual scores are given.

I feel like I've wasted more time on this than I should only to arrive at the same conclusion as others that this is absolute bollock. But at least I can be more confident in my conclusion.

It’s such a subjective topic and I guess (without reading the link) that there’s a great number of quantifiable American style things that can be put on a check list and ticked off.

I know we have those lovely folks in high vis jackets in the efl. Fan liaison or something and I think they even posted here to introduce themselves. Which was pleasant of them.

But engagement with my football club isn’t about high fives with a mascot. It’s about the club doing things right on the field and then when there are chances - have a beer with the fans.

I have never felt more connected with United than during the last few seasons under wilder.

Wilder has led the charge, Billy a fantastic lieutenant and even McCabe managed to jump aboard and not piss too many people off for a while.

The prince has bought into it. He’s observed from a distance and brought in people that want to be part of this thing.

And then there’s the rest of the players, the coaches, the staff. We’ve managed to get players making their own songs which get sung by the fans.

We’ve got a squad of players that love to interact with the fans

But central to all this is that fans will only engage with the club if it trusts that the club and everyone in it are hard working and honest. Wilder has brought integrity and this has to remain.

So I’ve no idea where we are in comparison to other clubs in terms of “engagement” but I know that were a club of hard working, honest piss heads that love to dish out a kidney punch or two.

So that’s 9th in the PL behind ‘the big six’, Leicester (2nd) and Wolves (5th and in the EL), and only just behind the biggest club in the Netherlands who were CL semi finalists in May. Phenomenal achievement by the social media team, but also must be in part due to the exciting brand of football we play and the impressive results we’ve been getting. Dem Blades going places.

I'd completely blocked that out of my memory, but now you mention it, I think it was some stupid late night Channel 4 thing where people were dared into doing stupid shit?

Complete bollocks.

We're ranked 82nd out of 92 and we haven't been more united in the last 40 yrs.
