St Mirren ................they knocked us out of the Anglo/Scottish cup in 1980( Silent Blade ?) and I'm still reminded of it :D

December 1979, Steve Conroy broke his arm and then we signed Derek Richardson
I was a keen 14 year old at the time Silent. Was on John Street before the Lane lights were on when around 30 boozed up Paisley lads ran towards me. Needn't have worried, all they wanted to do was swap scarves and talk about Alex Sabella :D

Grandparents: not interested in football
Dad: Nominally a Wednesday fan, but not that interested. Only remember him going to the Sty once, when Wednesday played Man Utd just after their 1968 European Cup win.
Mum: no interest in football
So I was the first person in the family to go to games regularly.

Thought this thread was going to be about the Silent family's total capitulation to Dr Tedros and his new draconian lockdown powers.

My dad was pleased to get out of Barnsley and not keen to go back even for a visit and brought us all up blades presumably due to my mother + location. Despite that after 60 odd years he still, after a few minutes, asks if anyone "knows how Barnsley went on"

I think if I moved away I'd make my kids support the local team.

I'm always amazed at the effort exiles make to keep watching the blades and get their kids to be blades.

Grandad (dad): Portsmouth
Grandad (mum): Middlesbrough
Dad: couldn't give less of a shit about football
Mum: United and Boro due to her dad and me but basically she doesn't care either
Me: United, obviously. Through choice as I'm a first generation Sheffielder
Local team: Brentford
