Good result tonight. Hard work for the boys against a decent Crewe side but finally wore them down. Could see they were a little nervous first half but bossed it second half.

Thoroughly deserved the win.

Cummings, Charlesworth, T Smith were the pick for me. Disappointed Semple was injured and missed out. Was looking forward to seeing him playing back at his own age group and how he has progressed with playing U23S week in week out.

i have sneaky feeling this side could go a long way in this cup.....

Kiss a fucking death there mate :)

I agree with you on Charlesworth and Cummings. Seen them with U23's - Cummings with varying performances. I'm surprised that they've only signed 4 from the 2nd yr U18's
Gonna check U18's out at Junior Derby on Saturday, they should walk it

Hard working performance and a thoroughly deserved win against the Alex, the only side to have beaten the Blades this season.

The left back George Cantrill was outstanding, Cummings too, special mention to the sub Stephen Mallon, looked a bit patched up but changed the game with his introduction.

Agree, Mallon definitely changed the game when he came on. He's usually criticised for not releasing the ball early enough but he did really well last night.

As others have said, Charlesworth, Cummings and Smith were excellent. I also like the look of the captain, Slater. Loves a tackle aswell as being decent on the ball.

It would have been a joke if we'd not won it. They barely threatened other than a shot early in the second half.

What was the formation and who played where? Based on shirt numbers and 4-4-2:-

Perryman
Charlesworth Cantrill Gilmour Cummings
Smith Graham Slater Greaves
Burton Hallam

Is that right?

Yes pal,

Semple still qualifies for the youth cup this season as he is still a second year scholar. Cummings, Charlesworth, Gilmoor, T Smith, Hallam and Semple are all the same age group. I know it doesn't mean too much in the scheme of things but all this bunch have been at SUFC since 8 years old.

i must say i did enjoy young Travis having a constant verbal ding dong with Piggy Lunt on the touch line......

Del Geary interviewed after. Love this lad and his enthusiasm for the club, always have.

Loved him as a player.
Love what he's working to achieve and love his attitude and methodology.
Blades legend in the making on top of a huge favourite.

Agree 100%

One of my favourite characters ever to grace the red and white in my lifetime. Gave every bit of himself to the cause.

Anyone born on 1st Sept 1998 or after qualifies to play in this season's Youth Cup

And a thoroughly decent bloke if you get the chance to meet him.
When Ken Jnr was a lot more junior than he is now we waited after a game by the coach at MK (league cup match where Horsefiled scored) and both Del Geary and Morgan were top drawer with the fans.

Very impressive performance from the youths.

And that principle of having the same template apply to teams at all levels is clearly being practiced - high pressing, energetic, positive and some very good football in amongst it. Was really taken by the fitness levels and the ability to keep the intensity up. Fully deserved the win in the end.
