Wonder if we will draw Hartlepool in the next round.

We don't even have the prospect of some good old fashioned Blackwell baiting either.

I really hope Cambridge win that game against Bury. It would definitely help my ground count if they're promoted :)

Last time at Cambridge ? bippety boppety boo ?
The lad that climbed up the floodlights during half time (the Police couldnt catch him when he came down) was from Dronfield and I knew him well at the time from the regular kickabouts at my local park. Not seen him for over 25 years

No, I didnt know what he looked like until I went to Ronnie's 60th two years ago. Was it in the match when Joe Bolton scored for us in the 3-1 defeat? Or was it in the 3-2 defeat (George Tyson was the ref and he was awful) in Nov 88 or in the FA Cup match in Jan 1989 (Agana superb goal)? I do remember the Police made their horses threaten us!

Cambridge ground only has capacity of 4,300. I wonder how many tickets we would be allocated should Cambridge win through?

Coops is right, you were looking at Cambridge City, Cambridge being a two team town.

In fact, until the late sixties, City were the bigger team and were eventually overtaken by United, who then got into the Football League in about 1970.

This isn't a piece of Daz/Silent type knowledge, but I lived near Cambridge and my best mate at school was a City fan and was very unhappy that their johnny come lately rivals made it into the league and City have never really recovered.

CU were know as Abbey United I believe until the 60's or somesuch.

I believe it was a similar situation in Oxford. Headington United became Oxford United and outstripped old rivals Oxford City.

Actually it was Steve Spriggs that scored the goal that sent us down. Steve was about 5 foot 5 inches tall. Mike Guy came closest to equalising in the 2nd half when his shot hit the bar. Alan Biley scored at least 2 goals in the 3-3 draw at snow covered BDTBL in December 1978. Imre Varadi put us 1 up before half time and scored another just after the break. We then had a penalty but Gary Hamson's effort was saved by Malcolm Webster. Then came 3 quick goals by Cambridge (not sure if Biley scored a hat trick but he did score at least two). Near the end a stunning 30 yards strike by John Matthews went to the top corner of the net to make it 3-3.

Always loved the emergence of the orange ball in the winter :)
I remember that Matthews goal - a belter.
He couldn't half hit 'em
