United were first out of the "hat" for a home tie against Leyton Orient.

Does anyone have any fond memories of games v Orient?

If memory serves me right (but it often doesn't) an enjoyable game for me was against them (I think) at home when Simon Webster, who had served us well previously, had a blinder for Orient and they were all over us.
A superb display of goalkeeping from Simon Tracey, almost single handedly, kept them at bay and we ended up beating them.

I assume someone will put me straight if I have got it wrong. ( Cue wiki searches)

In the 80s I remember we beat them 6-3 after being 3-2 down with 20 minutes left.

Shite. It will be free for season ticket holders though right?

Ched Evans last goal for us was against Leyton Orient. I think we won 3-1 I remember they outplayed us in the first half.

We beat them 4-1 in the cup at their place under Blackwell. Game was played on a Tuesday night after we went all the way down there on a saturday just for it to be called off for a frozen pitch half an hour before kick off. Brilliant day boozing in London on both occasions.

First game I was aware of after starting to support United when we signed Sabella. We took the lead but lost 2-1 in August 1978. It was on ITV. Then the first home game I ever went to on my own, without an adult was New Years Day 1983. We won 3-0. Mervyn Day was in goal for Orient and got loads of stick from the Kop. Jeff King must have just come back from injury because he scored and the Kop were singing "Kingy is back!"

Kyle Walker made his debut that night. Somebody predicted he'd play for England then started wrecking the seats!

Dunno, don't really have fond memories of it. A mate of mine has also just come back and says it's a dump.

Of course it's a dump, it's an English seaside town. But it's a shithole by the sea, that makes it better somehow :)

Not all shitholes though. We stopped off at Poole this year whilst waiting for the Jersey ferry, and I thought it was pretty good what I saw of it. I seem to remember Torquay as a bit boring but it was a while ago. Long way for an away match in Winter, although I do remember when I was younger I drove to Falmouth for a wedding and drove back the next day.

You're right actually. Lyme Regis, Weymouth and Dorchester are all really nice places down there as well. Spent nearly every school holiday in that neck of the woods.

Remember watching a match in one of Walthy's videos- might have been 78-79- where we lost 2-0 to them at the Lane. They had that great kit with two red "braces" on front and were a pretty solid team at the time from what I've been told.

Just knew we end up with a uninspiring league team. As 40 non league sides & we missed them all. Although not all bad chance to rotate squad. But still want to progress as its the FA cup & we want to at least keep our run of making 3rd round since 1982
