expectations and reality

We all had varying levels of expectations pre season as we ended our exile from the championship

I had hopes we could carry on in the same vein knowing the oposition wed face is a lot better than weve come up against the last 6 years

Weighing it up , and being an optimist I saw us finisshing 4th to 6th if the spirit was still there and a couple of players we could afford , could ensure this

Its sense to say to get a top 2 spot in our first season back , in a championship where clubs are spending 10 to 15 m on players was really hoping theyd all waste money

here we are now with a third of the season left only 2 points adrift of 6th , playing well, got some added strength and carried alot of injuries which have hit us hard

To me we are 1 or 2 wins within range of the best scenario we could have legitimately dared to hope for

Our neighbours pre season assessment I reckon they are 24 to 28 points off where they expected to be

We should embrace where we are as on target, and still have a great opportunity to keep it going
Reality is if we make top 6 we have achieved as much as we could realistically hoped for
I think weve got a great chance to do it

I am absolutely delighted with the way our manager and his squad have performed this season. I estimated 11th/12th with Wednesday 6th/7th.

Even after last season I never dared imagine we would have a squad like we have right now. What a JTW. What a start to the season.

OK we've had a bad spell and if we had not we would be with Wolves. We had to tail off.

What matters is what happens next. Not necessarily v Wolves but certainly v Leeds ( who will dread coming to S2) and all the others lined up to taste our new strength and quality. A team of athletes all of a sudden. Actually we will give Wolves the game of their lives.
