Expectation levels

I think if NA says who he's going to sign but then says nothing about who he's going to pick for the first eleven, then that would be better. I also think that if he acts like NC but then acts completely different when the season starts that wouldn't be good.

Furthermore I don't think he should say we're going to try and win until we do. But then if we're playing for a draw he should say we're going to try not to lose.....

Ffs I don't know how some of you sleep at night

I feel the same as I did when Wilson was in charge.
as I did when Weir was in charge
as I did when Clough was in charge

We'll walk it !!!

Nice one . All the same thinking , but going back to Harry Haslam.

Matt .Who is that in your photo .

Look at it however you want, the top and bottom of it is the fact that we have had that attitude for 4 years, and each time we have FAILED. I'm afraid teams like Fleetwood love coming to Bramall lane, they don't lose any sleep, it is the highlight of their season to play in front of more than 5k fans. It is their chance to come and humiliate the big club and sure enough they delivered last season.

ALL league 1 clubs love to come to BDTBL because to them , its Wembley of the North ( even more so with Desso pitch ). We finish up not knowing what to expect with the opposition raising there game . Even opposition player Joe Average , can look like Joe Good due to the crowd , stadium and surroundings.

Again , it could be easier for us playing away , than at home , unless our own mentality / mindset changes.

Players were to worried about losing games last season. so if they got a draw they the players got praise from clough for not losing and as long as an occasional win came along clough was happy so players expectations were not at there highest.n/a as made it plain what his expectations are. The same as the supporters expectations so if the players are expected to go out for promotion as the manager expects this should rub off on the players and maybe just maybe get better performances from them.

I think players are more likely to not perform with more pressure surely.

I wonder where that mentality has got us over the past 4 years. This 'we're going to bulldoze this league because we're SUFC' attitude is the exact same attitude that teams like Fleetwood come to Bramall lane and thrive on. Let's try having a bit of respect for the teams around us for once and we actually might see ourselves in with a chance of automatic promotion.
Actually, Fleetwood came to Bramall Lane and thrived on us trying to snatch a draw at home against them. We should fucking batter them

Remember Joe Royle saying summat similar when City where in this league in the 90's - they all come and raise their game - City were a bit lucky in the playoffs in the end. Suppose it was the same thing Southampton had to overcome as well not so long back, wish we had that manager!! ;-)

didn't think we were ruthless at all last season, Clough used that word a few times but in reality I think he was too happy to sit back on a lead or hang on for a draw (wish I had a quid for every time he said "the important thing is not to lose", I'd have at least 7 quid). I know in a few threads I've harkedg back to what Bristol City did last season, which is because I see a lot of parallels in terms of where we both were just under two years ago, and changed manager round the same time etc. On the last day of the season they are 2-2 agains Walsall at half time and then they batter them 8-2 - ruthless - we would have been unable to do that under Clough. Only time we could get the motivation for 5 goals in a game was when we were on the verge of total humiliation.

Set high expectations get better results.set low expectations get sloppy reactionsand poor results thats why best teams put this pressure on main squad members by having a player ready to take there place in squad.same results when we go about our employment not good enough we soon get replaced best players thrive on pressure
