Excitement or Dissapointment?

I do actually think we have some very good / outstanding players at this level but for one reason or other the system isn't working for them this year.

If we add Davies then the strike force options look very dangerous indeed! I just don't think the system / style particularly suits us. For me that's just team selection as much as tactics. We need more mobility in centre mid to win the ball back sooner, win the 2nd balls and press more effectively. Scougall and Basham need to be 2 of the 3 in centre mid.

Agree , but the players on the team sheet , are then classed as a weakened , not a full strength side , why have such a big squad , if the players brought in , are not equal or better on the day , than the ones they replace.

My view , you have a squad which helps your tactics , are interchangeable , without affecting the teams overall performance . We have enough players for Clough to get all this right in the play offs , and as you say , play as a unit , who are aware and know each other,

Chesterfield can play football , but it now comes down to preparation and mental strength .

We cannot have " Strangers in the Night " , Frank Sinatra scenario on Thursday against Swindon.

Players have to play and fans have to support , so i am sure we will get in right .

Home win , away draw against Swindon IMO.

I'd agree if it related to one or two changes, but interchanging half a team and expecting no drop in performance is asking too much. Swindon have done much the same in the last few weeks and the iffy results (like ours) have followed.

We beat Forest 5 4 over two legs.

Yes, but at the end of 90 mins at the Lane, it was 2-2 so under normal circumstances Forest would have gone through on away goals without extra time being played.

We've turned over Bristol, Donny, Dingles and a few others away this season, things haven't been great recently but we've got the ability to beat teams in the play.offs as long as we turn up.

We've got enough 'big match' experience to deal with.the.pressure, I've got no.doubt it's our season.

David Sheepshanks became chairman of the Football League in 1997.
