Ex- Blade Danny Wilson

My most enoyable season as a blade and a man. Some right away days. 4-0 up at half time v Notts c, 5-2 away win at Rochdale when the pigs got all giddy because we went behind, a brilliant 0-1 win at Huddersfield (when the pigs lost to stevenage at home, I was absolutely convinced we were going up)

I know it all went nipples north, but at the time, it was brilliant following us.

Ahh, Huddersfield away. Valentines Day. Took my missus along to it as she insisted on spending the day together. She's from the midlands and doesn't particularly enjoy football, but I told her it was Huddersfield away or no valentines day spent together. Bit of a risk but best valentines ever. Not so sure she'd agree....

As for our Academy lads, do you really think our manager will not play them if he thinks they are good enough? I'm sorry you pick on merit not age and it has since been proven that none thus far have even scratched the surface.

Agreed Bladesway! I can never understand people howling about giving the young 'uns a chance. If the management thinks they are good enough, they'll play 'em, regardless of age. Whitehouse, Kennedy etc will not make regulars at United, just not the required standard.

Kennedy played once, away at Doncaster, and by all accounts acquitted himself well[/quote]

Can't remember what was said by the majority after the game but Kennedy, in my opinion, looked absolutely terrified in that game and I could totally understand if Wilson decided he wasn't ready based on that evidence.

I still think that Wilson last season probably overachieved (having underachieved the season before that) more than any United manager since Bassett (or maybe Warnock in the Premier League). He kept a poor squad in the play-off spots and a couple of games after he left, and almost ever since, we totally fell apart.

A better squad is currently much, much lower in the table.

We can analyse the ups and downs of Wilson's reign here, but more significant is that in something like 13 times of asking, he's failed to get a team out of this division. Overall, we're better off without

It's to his credit that a seemingly shit* side was challenging last season, but my word that was turgid Blackwellesque stuff - the type that has you questioning what it's all about.

*You have to question how good / shit it was. Given that we'd have been better off with a chimp in charge than his successor, it's difficult to assess the qualities of that squad.

Either way, things look like they're on the up now :)
