Losing a game in this (oooops that) piss poor league.

Until this season, four games in and I thought the season was over and we were in a religation scrap at worst and mid table at best.

What was your worst realisation we were mortal?

Mine was the Gillingham 1st game of the season when we lost 4-0. I honestly thought we would storm that league before that game and win the title. Was laying a laminate floor with my son in their new house full of expectation, it turned out to be a painful job to finish that night.

The feeling of us winning a record 27 so far and probabley breaking that record in the next few games is strange, mainly relief but a little disappointing that this season is coming to an end. That's in stark contrast to several but mainly last season finishing so low!

Here's to the start of next season, I can't wait.

My worst bit was the southend match at bdtbl. 3-0 down in 20 mins. Bottom of the league. Really thought the team would have gelled by then we were in for another rough season.

Now its like floating on air.

As with Clough and Adkins, I think most people welcomed the appointment of Wilder and supported the team in numbers. We weren't to know that, despite thrilling Cup runs, Clough would bottle it in the league and Adkins was just a bullshit merchant. (Blade56, losing 4-0 at Gillingham was last season under Adkins). The first four games this season - L,D,L,L - had a feeling of 'here we go again' and the 0-3 Southend home defeat was truly chilling.

Now? You know what? I'm glad we got off to a poor start. If the team had suddenly started winning after the Adkins debacle, some might think they didn't want to play under Adkins and Wilder was 'lucky' to have inherited a good squad. Not a bit of it. It was Adkins who inherited good teams at Scunny and Southampton. This is entirely Wilder/Knill work. Less than two weeks after the 2015-16 season ended, new boss Chris Wilder launched a dramatic re-building of the playing squad, releasing ten players, transfer-listing seven players and releasing three players who had been on loan.

Now, we wave goodbye to League One after 6 long years. The other day, I posted that 'I wasn't bothered about United getting into the PL' and was roundly slagged off for being 'unambitious'. I didn't mean I don't want to see us in the PL ever, but it's all about Managing Expectations. Already, some are talking about back-to-back promotions, getting in the play-offs etc. and that's the kind of talk that gets the manager criticised if we fail to succeed. Whatever happens next season, I hope some don't start slagging off Wilder. Let's do what we've done throughout the last 6 years - support the team on our next steps.

Let's aim for promotion but accept that, if we fall short, we do it with good grace and stay behind CW, AK AND the team. They worked their magic in one season. Why not again?

Personally, I would LOVE CW & AK to take us up through the play offs and get rid of that awful hoodoo we have!

In CWAK WE TRUST!

I was talking about expectations at the start of every season grafikhaus not just this one (I did say in op 'until this one'). This season I was not confident, didn't know if CW was right man after 4 previous efforts and 11th didn't inspire me to think a relatively unknown (same as Warnock was) was the answer.

Well, my question has been answered on that account, he is the right man. :)

I think even if we have a bad season and we find ourselves in a relegation dog fight. We should stick with CW & AK. We were relegated with DB all those years ago and came back stronger.
