"A bit of success"

They won league titles, FA cups and a European trophy. Wish we would have a bit of success.

That was a top top side they had in the 80s, full of local lads and players they picked up on the cheap. They would have won the European Cup in 1986 if it hadn’t been for Heysel.

We're currently a no-man team...
Good joke but I disagree :)

We have class across the pitch now (albeit with a few gaps remaining, and the problems of getting them to gel as a team and also working out the best starting XI from a strong squad), so I’m hopeful that if the worst happens and a player gets injured, suspended or sold it won’t derail our entire season like when Ched got sent down.

That's why it is blades related, most blades can't stand the chiseling scouse scroats. How much did they bung Hans Segers.
Watch the game when they play Wimbledon again and you will see that segers is hardly to blame , he made quite a few decent saves , was beaten by a penalty, a worldie and then the one everyone thinks he took a bung for, if he wanted to throw the game there were far more opportunities for him to concede than the one he did concede , it's ridiculous this victim mentality, it was in our hands to stay up and we blew it like we did under Warnock years later

At last a fellow voice of reason on this matter.

Did Hans Segars have anything to do with us blowing a 2-1 lead?

Is that like how Liverpool unearthed MacAllister? Pundits these days don't know a fucking thing.

I honestly think Everton are heading towards becoming the Premier League's new Sunderland. For a while, their average PL season went something like this:

Step 1: Start the season dreadfully
Step 2: It gets so bad that the fans are screaming for heads, no matter whether that be players, manager etc.
Step 3: Sack the manager, somewhere between mid-October and late-November.
Step 4: Get a slight uptick in form, that's enough to keep them in reach of survival.

Step 5: Pull out some miraculous form in the last 5-6 games, including beating at least one top 4 side, to stay up on the last day.

Maybe they get out of that rut at some point, but I think it'd be very funny if they ended up going down right as they're ready to move to their new stadium.
I think this thread should be on the other football thread, but Everton are a club I loathe. Those old enough will recall another top league side that kept 'escaping' relegation for years then thankfully copped it namely Coventry City.

Really want Everton to get relegated along with Forest this season. My disliking of Forest is nothing to do with the miners strike and everything to do with their attitude since that play off semi final.

Everton are a premier league version of the wendies done nothing of note for a while but have just enough fans that saw the good times to boost the egos of the youngsters that go to see them. Leicester and Southampton are much stronger teams than Us, Burnley and Luton were,

I reckon Everton’s luck along with mid table Crystal Palace has run out this season. Palace have lost some real quality past two seasons and with Guehi and Eze rumours I’m unsure who they have left after the departures of Olise, Andersen and Ayew.

There was no cheating.
Yes there definitely was all season involving Wimbledon players. Any United fan who watched a certain centre forward deliberately handle the ball twice trying to concede penalties knows that. I was there wondering what the fuck is he actually doing? Now we know. In Evertons' defence I don't think for a minute they bribed anyone to throw the game. i think a far east betting syndicate did that. Not Evertons fault they were just beneficiaries of it. I saw cheating happening against United. I'm not niave or paranoid. I was at the Chelsea game I don't think we threw it away we were beaten away from home after a good game by a decent side. I don't mind getting relegated. I do mind if I think a key game was being influenced by outside forces. Pollington Blade Wak 1899, I don't expect you to agree with me but don't accuse me of petulant nonsense. I was there I remain genuinely angry and i don't think that anger is based on wishful thinking. I think its based on the evidence.

The Wimbledon game was 2 years prior.

Much as I'd love to see Everton relegated for all the reasons mentioned intend to think they'll always survive , like an institution too big to be allowed to fail. They are a club with history that can fill a 60k stadium which puts them up with the big boys even of they've failed massively over recent years .
Textor will take it over and they'll survive somehow . They are a bit like Villa , a couple of years and a good manager away from competing at the top end .

Can't stand Everton. I don't hate them, they aren't in the same bracket as the pigs, Forest, Leeds, dingles etc but I would love it, just love it (puts pair of wobbly headphones on) if they were to be relegated.
People have always asked me, why do you hate Edmonds? It makes me laugh. Ha! I don’t hate Edmonds. I don’t give a shit about Edmonds. I hate the things he does, sure. I hate the way he behaves. I hate his personality and his appearance. But hate Edmonds himself ? No, sir. Wouldn’t give him the satisfaction.

Looks like this seasons table at the bottom. Wolves and Everton start badly, again.

Maybe (but they won’t), there should be a rule where the promoted teams can’t go straight back down - 1st season pass.

gives every promoted team at least 1 season to try to establish themselves and adds a bit of jeopardy to the bottom of the league

Everton would have gone 3 seasons running

I've heard that before and it's certainly possible that they might have (and were unfairly denied an opportunity), but they weren't even the best side in England - Liverpool beat them to the title and the FA Cup.

The only thing they have going for them is Sean Dyche. The minute they get trigger happy and sack him and replace him with Gerrard/Rooney the corpse of Howard Kendall, they'll be proper fucked ...
It would be Rooney for sure who would return as the prodigal son. But the good thing is that it would end in tears

There was no cheating.
all i will say to you is take a read of andy nicholls book evertons top boy in the 80s then come back on here and say there was no cheating dont care how many saves seagers made in that game but he definetly dived over graham stuarts daisy cutter for evertons winner thats a fact

Even if he did, had we had held on for a draw we'd have stayed up. No cheating at Stamford Bridge, we were as per the architect of our downfall.

Yeah it wasn’t cheating by Everton…..just very lucky over many years to scrape survival.

But Wimbledon were allegedly dodgy for years … so who knows what really went on with a few of their players over a few seasons. The away game that a few have referred to with Fashanu was simply unbelievable…...

I would say yes due to 2 ex players being there? So don't be so picky!
I'll be as picky as I want thanks. Based on your opinion, a thread could therefore be opened about numerous clubs in the league who have our ex players?
Everton are a shit stain of a club and have absolutely nowt to do with Sheffield United so shouldn't be in General Blades chat.
