I don't really get the negativity on this. It's a free signing, a one year deal, so just the wages we're paying him for a wealth of Premier League experience and former England captain.

Wilder said it will be great to have him around the dressing room and he's been looking at bringing him back for a while so that's good enough for me. I think I'll trust Wilder's opinion over a few amateur armchair supporters. I think the McGoldrick signing should make people realise that this Wilder bloke appears to know what he's doing (shock horror!).

I played with the forum lads yesterday and as I'm also a full kit w*nker, when I got home I took the dog to the park still in full kit. Some old fella stopped me and said "What's tha reckon t'new signing then?", said I was fine about it and it was a no-lose situation, then he starts going on about why would we want him back, obviously he's not good enough for Everton so how is good enough for us. I didn't have time to list the flaws in his argument but I wondered how many other know-nowts felt the same.

So some random bloke comes up, asks for your opinion and then tells you you’re wrong. Life imitating the internet.

“Bottom 6 of the PL and top half of the Championship. That’s the top end of his abilities.”

As I’m hoping we finish 6th bottom, at worst 4th bottom, this is good to hear.
Only just slipped through the Everton net then.
