I met a girl who loved the blues
Reminded her of Duffy’s shoes
But she just smiled and turned away

I went down to the Superstore
Where I’d dreamed of Europe years before
But the man there said the players couldn’t play

And on the pitch the white lines gleamed
The mowers purred and the groundsmen schemed
But not a word was spoken
Our football dreams were broken

And the great men I admired so
The Wilder bunch who ran the show
Were locked inside, nowhere to go
The day our football died...

Good morning.
