Entirely Predictable - Utterly Embarrasing

Really? That ranks up there with the very craziest overreaction comments on here.
they were’t shit but they were powder puff and there for the taking .. we gave them far too much respect .. even the formation ..
we’d have hammered them this time last season

Swansea have some good player but my god as a team they were poor. Wasting time in the 1st half they had only come for a point. After we scored they became more adventurous and realised how shit we were and just pissed all over us. Dress it up however you want the last 30 mins was as bad as anything we have seen since CW arrived. A follow on from last season on that showing we will really struggle this term.

As soon as I saw the lineup , my heart sank . I knew we were going to struggle , and struggle we did .

To play at home against a club in complete turmoil with a midfield five consisting of two fullbacks masquerading as wingers and two others whose propensity is to pass the ball sideways or backwards is , for me almost beyond belief , and the resulting performance only confirmed that opinion .

Others have complained about poor performances from the strikers but today , had we had Shearer and Lineker in their prime , neither would have had a sniff at goal as a result of the pitiful service they received.

Embarrassing because , in front of a large TV audience , we looked a pale shadow of the Sheffield United that started last season and received plaudits from all over the country .

Unless there is a serious rethink about our team selection and formation this is going to be one hard season and CW , despite my admiration for what he has done for us , can't abdicate responsibility for performances like this by blaming it on individual mistakes .

Agreed !

Get a grip. First game of the season, we hardly struggled. Look at the match stats 52% possession and 12 shots to their 8 or 9.

Your point about having Shearer and Lineker is also utter rubbish. Think of all the crosses and early balls we put into the box, if we had that one striker on the end of the ball we would've won against Swansea, this is something Wilder and the board know and will be investing into.

The team selection maybe in a sense needs to be revised, Lundstram always gives the ball away cheaply, but when Coutts is back will he play? Personally think we should play 2 CM and a CAM to provide that little more going forward.

Your post is extremely negative. We have 45 games left and played our first game against a relegated premier league team with premier league quality (Montero) who for me changed the game. Take the positives!

The amount of times they played the ball into our half for one of their players to chase was worrying, because you look at the dead ball and assume one of our back three or wing backs will get it. It seemed they didn't as they'd lost the ball and weren't tracking back fast enough, meaning one of the back three had to sprint over to cover, leaving defence exposed again.

Very worrying.

On a plus note though, Henderson looks a good young keeper. No faults there from me. He got down well for their winner, and one of our defenders should've been all over the follow up.

Wasn't sure if the thread title was about the performance or the overreaction on here afterwards.

I joke, I joke before you all kick off.
