Surprised no one has mentioned this lad - yesterdays performance was excellent.
He made some excellent runs and some brillliant crosses into the box ,looks very quick and skilfull.
Maybe tailed off a bit in the second half when he was substituted but looked a step up from Laffferty . Looks like a natural wing back to me and looking forward to seeing him in league action - very good competition for Lafferty I would say !

A step up on Lafferty is a little harsh, I like Lafferty he is a solid LWB for us. We do have some great competition for places in our wing backs spots this season.

Both are good LWBs. Both will be used throughout the season.

Stevens looks better going forward and Lafferty better at defending. However Stevens hasn't been tested fully yet.

I have no issue who plays which is excellent.

Lafferty is better than he looks.
He's underwhelming because he is a no fuss defender and makes defending look quite easy.
A consistent 7 out of 10 performer every match.

If we want an attacking wing back, agree Enda is probably better going forward.

He looks like the full package full back to me. Good height, strong, quite quick, tidy, good going forward.

I think he'll gradually prove to be a very good signing.

Was impressed with him last night. Full backs is the one area we're very strong in

Whipped some good crosses in the first half, neat and tidy, still finding his feet,be a good battle between him and Lafferty this season, maybe we will play both should we go 442

Neither could play left mid. Thomas or Brooks if we go 4-4-2.

I think Stevens and Baldock could quite easily become our wing back pairing before long.

I think they're both better going forward than their counterparts. Baldock used to be a winger and he's absolutely rapid which would help us counter attack against the 'better' sides away from home.

Take nothing away from Freeman and Lafferty though. I've never written Freeman off and he's seen off plenty of competition and he's still our first choice right back.

We clearly aren't going to turn a 27 year old full back into a left midfielder.

I thought Stevens was one of the better perfomers in the first half.

Although I wasn't a big fan of Lafferty at the beginning of last season, we certainly looked a stronger side with him in the team.

What nice dilemma to have... it's been a while since we've been able to say that

Both of them are much better than the likes of Jordan Stewart, Taylor, Williams, hill, mcevery and the rest of the dross we've had at left back in recent years...

Good problem to have.

Lafferty wouldn't let us down, a steady squad player

We've got our own, Walker/Trippier and Rose/Davies partnerships. Let's hope ours push themselves as much as the Spurs pairings did, the competition will drive them on to play at the top of their respective games. Great dealings from Wilder and Co.

I think Lafferty spent longer before scoring a few goals last season because he had to develop into a lwb having played as a traditional lb all his career Stevens has to do the same thing but might have done it faster see how he does for the rest of pre season first Lafferty did an excellent job for us last season we shouldn't be so quick to drop him

Music to my ears.

Means both these lads can fight it out for the shirt, but also give nothing less than 100% in every game with Wilder knowing he can always rest one for the other and keep his team fresh with little difference in quality.

Agreed.

But he needs to take an extra touch to set before delivering the ball.

Other than that, big improvement on Lafs.
