Not by our performance (surprisingly), but our "support".

Summed up perfectly by the applauding off the pitch of Alan Quinn, who, once again, managed to make sure he left his foot in on a number of dangerous tackles.... Whilst booing our young keeper, currently playing for the Blades and the schoolkid style jeering of the lot of them.

I don't know if it's just me overreacting, but i'm coming away from matches that I should be angry about FAR more angry with our so called support than the poor performance.

Booing a player before he has even touched the ball really cheesed me off tonight.

Booing the keeper would have helped his confidence the crowd were very quiet tonight though although probably shocked to see three straight goals taken by Ipswich.
A positive to see Hendo get two .As well as coming from behind with 12 minutes left.

Didn't stick around for the end, but I dont agree with booing our own players.

On a slightly different note, the 70ish minutes i did watch were appauling!

Careful! we aren't supposed to take any positives :D

I think we are supposed to ignore the fact that although the substitutions were booed, we actually looked more dangerous for them too.

Can someone remind us of the circumstances in which the latest nomark turned us down previously?

They make absolutely no difference and are no excuse to boo a current blades player onto the pitch before he's even kicked a ball.

It truely is pathetic.

Er, no it isn't. Why should we forget a player previously deciding he was better than us and a pig to boot?
He's got all on to prove himself and if he's got anything about him he'll knuckle down and show us.

He's got it all to prove, but booing him is more than a little silly Lenny.

I agree totally, our fans are pathetic, have we become spoiled brats? No support whatsoever tonight. 28 thousand people sat in complete silence. Our fans are as much to blame tonight as the players and manager.

No reason to ever boo one of your own. I can understand frustration after the game and I can even understand venting frustration on phone in's and places like here, but there is no positive outcome booing your own players. Bad atmosphere leads to a similar situation we had when Robson was in charge where players are scared shitless to actually do anything.

If it is true then Blades "fans" have managed to descend to a new low this evening. I'm ashamed to say that I don't even miss not being there at the moment. It's not a nice place to be on a match day when things aren't just tickety boo for us. 3-0 up and everythings rocking, but what has happened to the old spirit that used to be there when the fans backed us through the 90 and beyond. Even in the Warnock years we had solid support, booing was reserved for the end.

Afraid we are just as fickle as the others. :(

Why bother, with the stirling encouragement he's got waiting for him even if he does?

People moan about players not wanting to come because of our manager, who the bloody hell would want to sign for a club who's fans boo you onto the pitch before you've kicked a ball and sarcastically cheer any successful pass?

If you are a substitute or get taken off, either you or the decision is booed.

Tell me, why would you sign for Sheffield United over someone else willing to match the deal? You might talk to the other players/listen to the plans... but when you see and hear the reaction you get?

Yes it happens elsewhere, but we are quickly becoming one of the worst for it.

Tell me just how it isn't pathetic to clap off an ex-player who happens to have done his best to put our current players out of the game and boo and jeer the players playing for OUR TEAM on the pitch and also a man coming onto the pitch having never before kicked a ball for us.

You often speak about what is wrong about Sheffield United, wind ups aside, surely you can see what we are becoming as a fan base?

He's got it all to prove, but booing him is more than a little silly Lenny.

Come on, it's partly booing him and partly booing the club for the signing in the first place.
Where does he fit in with the alleged signing of players with a future, even sell-on value etc?
It's a ridiculous panic signing which is even more remarkable when you consider we've committed ourselves to two years' wages on him.

Maybe people should be a bit more mature about the whole thing. The guy is wearing a blades shirt and by the simple definition we are 'supporters' of the team so they get our support. While I might not like a player because of his previous history if he's wearing a Blades shirt then he should get our support.

I'd had high hopes that this forum would be better than BU with the constant spiral of whining and complaints after any game that we've not won but it seems this isn't a site-specific issue; it's one contagious to a large minority of the Blades fanbase and one that is truly sickening. Sure we've not played very well tonight by all accounts but some of the comments and threads on here are a disgrace - "Wankers" being a perfect example. We are a pretty decent Championship side; we're not a premiership team, we don't have a magical right to promotion or to win a game. If you let every defeat kick you in the teeth then you must have a torrid time supporting the Blades

I thought the booing of the players was a disgrace, especially Creswell, as for the ironic cheers when we started passing the ball, yeh its wrong (and I didn't and wouldn't do it) but I actually thought it was quite funny :D

considering how bad the team were i thought the crowd were quite restrained. the reception cresswell got was a joke. Remember these players are mostly on over 5 grand a week each and it is not out of order to expect them to put a shift in.

Sorry, fans have got every single right to express their feelings about signings of players.
We're paying for them.
If Cresswell's a genuine footballer and a genuine man, he'll knuckle down.
If he isn't, he can piss off and it's very likely that signings like him will bring Blackwell's reign to an end if it doesn't work out.
Enough of this pathetic acceptance of shite at the Lane. There are players out there getting paid vast amounts who've played a lot of matches and are capable of a lot better.
If we'd lost tonight, I could see Blackwell being two or three games from being hounded out.
He's got some breathing space but fer crying out loud he and the team have got to do one hell of a lot better.
Booing them, any of them, is the very, very least of Sheffield United's worries at the moment.

Whatever they get paid, how does it ever help the club we are supposed to support to spit venom at them throughout the match?

Do people think Bunn will instantly become better and more confident if he gets booed?

Do people think we'll suddenly turn into Brazil if they sarcastically cheer any short pass?

correct me if i'm wrong but cresswell is a wednesdayite and has bigged up the fact in the past.. i don't think fans are booing the player per se.. they are booing blackwells idiotic decisions

I think it was some of both.

Cresswell isn't a Wednesdayite though as far as I know, despite playing for them in the past.

Maybe so, but my point is, why during the match? how is it supportive and what does it achieve?

If Cresswell's a genuine footballer and a genuine man, he'll knuckle down.
If he isn't, he can piss off and it's very likely that signings like him will bring Blackwell's reign to an end if it doesn't work out.

But yet we shouldn't actually give him the chance and instantly put him and the rest of the squad on a downer by booing him onto the pitch?

Enough of this pathetic acceptance of shite at the Lane. There are players out there getting paid vast amounts who've played a lot of matches and are capable of a lot better.

You are right, the real fans scream, abuse, jeer and boo until we are 15-0 up every week. That is a true supporter.

All these people embarressed that we've become the sort of fan base we used to pity and take the piss out of just need to get with the programme and do what is right for the club.

Why should we accept that a player who plays for the club we support is coming onto the pitch to try and win a match for us... Who is he to try and make us do well... Why should we let him get away with that!

We'd be far better cheering an opposition player.

Embarrased by everything at the match the performance and the fans.

Also do the club actually give the seats a rinse once in a while? because my seat was covered in bird crap.

Which sums our performance tonight really despite the fight back.

sarcastically cheering a short pass was to get a message to our one dimensional manager.

after that blunder Bunn was lucky he didn't get done under the trades description act

if players can't be bothered to pressure defenders when they get paid more in a week than most of the crowd do in 4 months then they should expect a rough ride,

Yes we a part of the equation that pays for a player and yes you can express disgruntle views but save it for forums and phone ins.

To boo a NEW sigining is shocking if you don't like it stay quiet rather than boo him there is a time and place for airing frustration and at the game when the team needs support simply is not it.

I'm glad I was stuck at work tonight. Because simply put these blades who boo a player coming on to the pitch make me very embarrased to be wearing the same colours as them.
