Just watching Wolves v Derby (0-2 after 16 mins) I think Wolves new manager may well recall EEL looking at the centre backs that are (not) performing today.

Don't think he can be recalled till January???

He can't do a thing until January by which case things may have improved at their end and CW will have other targets lined up anyway.

Chill people

maybe the board will dust off the fax macine and cheque book and but in a sensible bid for him attractive enough for the wolves manager to think 2 cheap defenders

I know we have him til January at least, I meant afterwards. Watching these defenders that Wolves have it makes you wonder why they let EEL go in the first place. Derby could have had 3 or 4 already.

Probably depends on who the wolves manager will be come January >:)

The Wolves centre half's certainly look shaky, If the new Wolves manager is in the stands, it's an area he will have identified, will it affect our loan agreement for EEL, who knows. Wolves better 2nd half, Derby now look vulnerable at the back, topsy turvy game 3-2 to Derby at minute.

Lamberts the new manager and he will be in the stands, or directors box.

The fact that he won't be allowed to play tomorrow says it all about Wolves' intentions come January, it's a case for us of paying up or losing him (if he wants to come).

With respect you are wrong.
It's very rare that any club allows their player to be Cup tied to another club when on loan.

Also I have contacts at Wolves and their fans don't rate EEL at all.
They think it's funny we think he's so good. They know him well and say he's definitely not up to Championship standard becuase he always makes occasional blunders, unless he's mysteriously improved with us.

Unless the new manager shows interest then Wolves are just wanting to get the best fee for him.
So of course making sure he isn't Cup tied keeps their options open and keeps his valuation higher.

Teams don't let players play in the cup just in case they get cup tied, McNulty and Brayford won't be allowed to play for Bradford and Burton either, it's common practice.
Sorry Sheffsteel only just read your reply.

If EEL returns in january(don't think he's gonna improve Wolves) why not make an offer to swap Brayford for McFadzean and bring the boy home.

Don't panic. If Wolves are relying on EEL to save them, then they are in deep shit. He's a solid defender, but lets not get carried away. If nothing else, he's highlighted how bad some of our centre backs have been in recent years.

If they recall him it would be to sell him to someone such as Huddersfield or Preston or the like.

Wolves are now shopping in a very different market thanks to their investment. I don't think we should be unduly worried about them recalling him for their first team. However, if they think he has some resale value elsewhere, they may try to recall and sell him. In that scenario, it's not unthinkable for a lower level championship club to come in for him... maybe a team such as Wednesday? ;)

If Wolves' 2 central defenders are normally as bad as they were today then Ethan would definitely improve them. One was clumsy and crap, and the other was being booed by the fans when he touched the ball. Whoever takes over as manager would be barmy not to get him back, frankly.

I found that to be a very strange appointment, never thought he was in contention for the job. Not sure how much money the new owners plan to invest, maybe they will be looking more for a Premiership standard CB.

One thing in our favour is that Wolves already have a number of young defenders. Firstly they'll be after more experience, secondly they'll want someone at a different level to EEL.

And I'd be very surprised if we had anything to worry about in the way of interest from other Championship clubs. The ones who might be interested probably wouldn't be willing to pay a fee that'd blow us out of the water, and they probably wouldn't even be able to guarantee him first team football.

I can't believe you think that? It's normal for clubs not to allow players to get Cup tied - unless there's absolutely zero chance of them wanting them back. I suspect if EEL keeps his performances up we will gladly shell out £500k or whatever it costs to sign him in January. Bear in mind though, he's been at Wolves since he was 9 years old and is probably still hoping he could get in the first team there.

If he goes back he goes back
There are thousands of centre halves who could come into this team at this level and perform to the expected standards

Just because we have put up with shit for a decade doesn't mean we will now

Personally don't think he will go back myself

How are things in Wolverhampton?
