Sounds familiar?

Sheffield United striker Marlon King has appeared in court to deny dangerous driving after a three-car crash that left a man with a fractured elbow.

The 33-year-old League One player is alleged to have committed the offence on 26 April while driving a Porsche Panamera on the A46 in Nottinghamshire.
Mr King pleaded not guilty to the charge at Nottingham Crown Court and was bailed ahead of a trial in March.

A 35-year-old man suffered a fractured elbow in the collision near Newark.

The incident was witnessed by an off-duty police officer.

Mr King, a Jamaica international, whose previous clubs include Gillingham, Nottingham Forest, Watford, Wigan, Coventry City and Birmingham City, asked the court through his barrister for his trial to be delayed until the close-season.

But Judge Jonathan Teare QC rejected the request, telling his lawyer: "I don't wish to have any impact on either your client or his team but I also don't wish to have any adverse impact on the witnesses."

Dangerous driving carries a maximum sentence of two years imprisonment.

Mr King, of Torksey, Lincolnshire, joined the Blades in September and has scored one goal in nine appearances.

I suppose the only saving graces are he might not be here post January and he hasn't scored a Chedload of goals.

At least we get to cancel the contract if he's locked up. Given Clough's apparent low opinion of him, (not to mention his awful performances), that might not be the worst outcome...

I sent Sufc an email when we signed Marlon King and I was invited by Julian Winter to discuss my comments, as I wasnt back until two weeks ago we postponed it until I was back.

Got to say that he was a thoroughly pleasant guy to speak to and he explained the entire process of how players are signed (I think there are 6/7 stages in the process).

Needless to say that the signing of King wasn't just a Weir decision, but a club decision which was deliberated over by many people within the club.

It sounds like the club really explored every avenue before signing him and no doubt this charge was also discussed. United looked long and hard to find the right player (King wasnt on the list) but nothing suitable came up. King became available and the full process was conducted for King.

It's not worked out with King as hes not even getting a game off the bench and if this gives us a chance to release him then all the better

I'm pleased to know that more than one person at BDTBL made the decision to sign a totally worthless sack of shit. That way I can sleep knowing that the sacking of Weir didn't drive out incompetence and we are in danger of approaching January with most of the same people in place to make another informed decision.

Yipppee

Whether you're pleased or wasn't the intention of my post. It was in response to the earlier post about Weir being to blame.

Whether you believe the transfer process to be successful is a matter of opinion but it was interesting to learn about the process, I thought I'd share some of the info

Please sir, I know what it is, sir, plleeasse sir!

1. Is he still breathing?
2. Has he explored every avenue apart from us?
3. Is he available without a fee?
4. Is his agent a nasty man?
5. Can we get a phone number? Even better if it is his?
6. Have we seen a video of his career highlights?
7. Is he willing to drop a division for an increased salary and a longer contract than he deserves?

8. You're in!

Fair comment but it concerns me that we keep making the same mistakes. Perhaps the fact its done by committee is the reason we keep signing shit and selling anything decent. Give the responsibility to one man and perhaps you end up in a better position. I don't know the real answer but I do know that currently it isn't working.

If I was in Clough's shoes I would be relying on a team of my own trusted scouting network to identify the targets after we have agreed what changes we need to make - then I would draw up a list, clear it with the Chairman and give it to the likes of Winter to go and sort it out. Get involved in the interview stage at the end and keep the final decision (once the contract elements have been thrashed out) to misen.

I am pretty certain that is the way it works with Steve Evans at Rovrum and he seems to be a shrewd judge of a half decent player. You need the players to be fully supporting the manager and you need the manager to be 100% behind the players in his team.

I'm not sure that collecting squads like collecting sticker albums, by committee, is a great way of going about it - despite there being a "process" to go through. Besides, it strikes me that our "process" is completely flawed judging by the shit on show week to week.

Steve Evans has signed Claude Davis, Pablo Mills and Matt Tubbs for the Millers. Not to mention a continuing audition for 'worst loan star ever' last season.

Credit to him for getting Rotherham where they are, but I wouldn't say player recruitment is one of his strengths.

It's all relative - Big Claude was rock solid against our solitary powder puff attack at the New York

The most striking relative is the positions of the two clubs.
With a whole host of injuries they still managed to spank Coventry last night in someone else's back yard.

So you are telling me that Evans has managed approx 2 flops out of how many to Weir's 9 or 10 out of 13? - I think that is statistically valid.
