In case you missed it. Eastleigh cancelled their first home pre-season match v AFC Wimbledon last Saturday at extremely short notice.

http://www.eastleighfc.com/2017/07/08/afc-wimbledon-postponed-statement/

The basic story looks like - they've laid a new pitch, it hasn't settled down in time, Wimbledon took one look at it & said we ain't playing on that.

Now, today, Tuesday 11th, Eastleigh have cancelled two more home pre-season games for Saturday 15 July (v Portsmouth) and Saturday 22 July (v Newport County)

http://www.eastleighfc.com/2017/07/11/pre-season-plans-rearranged/

There are various excuses given for those last two postponements - fixtures adapted to suit the needs of the first team squad, hot weather forecast, thunderstorms forecast.

As you may know, SUFC are due to go there on Friday 28 July. I don't want to be scaremongering. There is a lot of time between now & then. And, Eastleigh make some general positive statements in those links. But, I thought it was maybe worth a Heads Up. I'm not really part of the Gang yet, but someone needs to say DESSO for about a dozen replies - that's if I've got it right how it works.

Desso.

McCabe out.

Fax machine

Simonsen's penalty

Hanson is shit

Billy has lost his scoring touch and should be dropped.

I think that covers it and welcome to the gang.

Because I write a Beer, Football & Cricket Blog. I have a sort of immunity. More or less whatever I post, utter nonsense or spot on insight, someone says - "you been on the beer again?" or similar...

Cheers for that. I hadn't realised.

Was looking at booking somewhere down that neck of the woods for the weekend but might revise my plans based on that. It's only a friendly after all.

I imagine they'll do everything in their power to get the game against the Blades on. By cancelling the other games, it gives the pitch a better chance.

Imagine the money they'd miss out on if they cancelled our game.

Worry not.

Hi There

I am an Eastleigh taxi driver and go to the ground often. There is a hell of a lot of development work being done at the Eastleigh ground. I will keep my ears open and will post any developments with regards to the fixture. There is quite a bit of interest in this fixture especially from Saints fans who still love our Billy

I would have thought cancelling the Portsmouth friendly would have cost them rather more.

They also have a beer festival on the same weekend... Will speak to my contact there about the likelihood of change.

See you at the game ... provided it's on.

'Fixture not in doubt, pitch in good playing condition'.

Beer festival starts the day after the match - overnight stay now confirmed!!

Got the hospitality option some weeks ago - £30 didn't seem a bad price - so it better not be cancelled (although I do only have 15 miles to travel).
