Working in the SUFC recruitment team 1 player in, in 12 months that the ex boss wanted 12 months ago.
"Eh Steve, think we should look at a few players"

"Nah, I've got a tough game of patience going, we'll have a deck next year, maybe"

Hernandez from Norwich just signed for Middlesborough. Winger probably in budget that would have come. Despite this we’re attempting to get players that don’t want to come here

We've spent the entire summer trying to sign players everyone knew we had no chance of getting and now we've missed out of realistic targets that would improve us. We've had some shit windows with players being sold with no replacements but this is the most amateur like I have seen. It's indefensible

United had this approach for many years. It looks ambitious but is ultimately the opposite of ambition: "we tried for one or two, but..."

To be fair we knew our place when Wilder was manager it seemed. Lots of signings people classed as underwhelming. That said even he bizarrely thought we could get Connor Coady. Such a fruitcake club

Our position is weakening with the passing of time as well. In the summer, we were a relegated team expected to mount a challenge for a quick return to the Premier league - can see why this would be attractive to potential recruits. Now, we look like a team in free fall, more likely to do a double drop than promotion contenders. We’re a less desirable landing spot.

If we’ve not brought anyone in by Wednesday morning then Paul Mitchell needs his P45.

This club has been an absolute laughing stock in the transfer market since promotion to the Premier League.

Actually it's one of the hardest jobs in football.

Trying to bring players in that will immediately improve the team, ie. better than we already have, with no money to spend and little hope of raising any funds by offloading players that we don't need.

I don’t believe we’ve been a laughing stock at all we’ve bought poorly but we have spent a lot of money.

Does he sign the players?

I’m guessing that as wilder got on well with him, the Prince will want rid anyway

In terms of midfielders, anyone will do at this point. Stoke loaning Sawyers from West Brom, Boro loaning Hernandez from Norwich; two I can think of immediately that would’ve improved us.

When you come down from the Premier League, you ought to be in a good position over other clubs in the division. We seem to be back at the basement end of the market.

Well the last I read, he’s ‘Head of Recruitment’ so you’d think he’s tasked with overseeing the scouting network, recommending players, negotiating etc.

Maybe we need money in before we can commit to money out? Prior to the Ramsdale sale there has been nothing else coming in.

Does make the recruitment job pretty difficult if we can't find anyone that wants to give us good money for the players that we don't want.

Probably so. We must still be paying off significant contributions towards the fees for McBurnie, Brewster and Berge etc.

Bar Ramsdale, I don’t think any recent signing has increased in market value since being here. We’ll have to take a hit on the likes of McBurnie, Brewster, Mousset for sure.

Two seasons of record Premier League income down the drain.

Exactly that 👍

Exactly. He will go out to get the players that Slav wants…within the club budget, but he doesn’t sign the cheque, does he?

I doubt he negotiates the transfer negotiations. That will be Bettis and Schrieber.
Yeah you’re probably right. Seems that people are happy to talk up people getting fired without even knowing what their remit is…

Surely it's not as easy as being a pundit.

No stress, get 30 odd different camera angles and get to sit with Laura Woods if you work for Sky.

I’m not Sheff Utd’s accountant but why do we only seem to be interested in loans? Am I mistaken, I get in championship you don’t get as much TV money etc etc but parachute payments I though we got more/getting more than WBA and Fulham cus we was in PL for 2 seasons… don’t get why we’re acting so skint surely our squads wage bill isn’t astronomical 🤷🏻‍♂️
