Used to play with my mate at Heanor.
Think it’s a good thing when you get these lads in a bit later in their career.

...but only if he is better than the six or seven keepers we already have.
I just meant there’s a bit more maturity and a realisation that they have to ‘earn it’. Not the possible complacency of a younger lad.
As far as the transfer goes it’s a no lose situation. Young lad on a free with small wages. He either develops into a talent… or he doesn’t.

Understood, but what message does that give to the three or four young keepers that we already have ?
If they are not good enough then, in fairness, they should be told and allowed to get on with their lives, in football or outside.

Could be that Ammisah and Dewhurst are going on loan next year for the whole season and this lad will get the jersey for the 23’s

Callum Hiddleston as well. Can see the club trying to get them all loans.

Dewhurst has had rave reviews at Boston and predicted to do well in the game. Also represented England from U17s through to U20s. Maybe a loan next season at League 1 level and if all goes well push for the no 1 shirt the season after.

I don't know at what level but it seems to be club policy to get all the U23s loans.
True I just wonder if Hiddleston might have to battle it out with the new lad for a season to see who gets the 23’s number 1 shirt. He could go conference north or something though you’re right.

The days of stepping up from reserves ( Central league) into 1st team football are long gone.
It's all about development these days.
Occasionally a lad can step up and make it without being loaned we may have one or two now.
Our problem is ! We play in the third tear development league the gap between 1st team is massive.
Loans are the only way to test these lads development Sink or swim.
Hopefully a fair number of the present squads will swim! Some real talent in there ! Can they bridge the gap.
