At half time sofascore has Basham as the Blades best player on 7.3 followed by Fleck on 7.0 Duffy is on 6.6

I don't think he had that good a game but he's a very important player for us. We're a much better team with him in the side. He finds space and makes himself an outlet, as well as being our best attacking threat.

How the hell did he not get in the MOTM nominations? Lost one ball second half running in their area. Steps out of his own space to keep control with such quality.
My MOTM today followed closely by Billy.

Looked sharper, and better for the rest.

Totally different player to Holmes, who came on today and looked like a fella plucked from the crowd, trying hard but going nowhere. What the hell he was doing when we broke with it twice and he kept hold and lost it. Christ man!! Saying that, Bash too near the end.

He literally came on in the 89th minute ffs.

I know he was, but doesn’t mean he can’t do better when the ball is nicely at his feet, with players running inside with an overload on their defenders than simply shuffle five yards, get it stuck under his feet and get tackled so we then have the players creating the simple overload out of position. He looked lost.
Bash did similar.

Bash was shattered though. You could see that he knew he should knock the ball passed their player and go down the wing but he'd clearly run himself out of puff, got caught in two minds and lost it.

I'm a big fan of Duffy but thought he wasn't up to his usual high standards. Glad to see him back though.

He was, runs himself to the ground every week, and he would have known better than most how tired he was hence why his decision was equally Baffling. I bet it gets brought up in analysis tomorrow.

On the other hand, despite his tiredness he did the right thing, running with the ball out of defence on the break but then I think realised he couldn't go any further, got stuck in two minds and lost it.

Looked lost with the 4 minutes he got on the pitch.

Got ya.

We shall see, but in the games he has played he has looked like he’s trying too hard and on a different wavelength to everyone else. Easily brushed off the ball, one paced, and in this division no faster than the defenders around him.
Hopefully it’s just a matter of him settling down, but it doesn’t alter the fact that the job he’s had to do today was quite simple and he couldn’t do it. Keep the ball when we have it, chase them down none stop when we don’t.

Duffy had a big hand in both goals but probably won't get an assist for either. I thought he played well, not perfect but always a threat.

Duffy has to start for me. Made the 1st goal and was our most creative player. Perhaps made the wrong choice on a couple of long-range shots, but he's the only one trying them. When he went off we had no outlet, so we kept launching it towards Billy & Leon and it kept coming back. That's why Holmes came on.

Very brave, always looking to get on the ball and make something happen. As usual a couple of WTF moments but the best he's played for some time.

Was walking to the Harland cafe before the game, when this guy came along side me and started chatting.
How do you think we're going to do today, he says.
Not sure, said I, but we need a win.
Do you think Duffy will play? he says.
I really, really hope so, says I (which I was really glad I'd said, as his next comment was)
I'm his dad. I'm meeting Billy's dad in a bit. We just don't understand why they aren't being picked.
We chatted for a bit and both ended up in the Harland. I gave him a thumbs up when I saw the team news.
What a nice guy, comes to every home game and away games as far as Brum.

Glad to see him back today , he can be frustrating at times but he is our most inventive midfielder & makes things happen in the last third.
Always seems to get subbed With about 20 to go which I find puzzling when he’s on his game.

With the exception of Coutts, Duffy is the best footballer we have. When he plays well, we play well. Also, when Duffy plays well, Fleck is noticeably better. Regardless of new signings, Duffy should be the first name on the team sheet. Even at 32, he wouldn't look out of place in a top-half PL team. Cannot praise him enough.

He's our most technically proficient player. Ball sticks to him and his movement is very good.

Nothing not to like. Just glad he plays for us

Holmes played great last week

Holmes played great last week

Wouldn’t have said great, he was one of our better players but as I said last week he had a great chance to at least hit the target and sliced horribly under no pressure. Not in the same league as Duff.
