Played a full 90 minutes at Matlock last night, worked hard and played well. Not suggesting that means he'll stay and someone told me that Phil Parkinson was at the game. Obviously whoever he might have been looking at, there wouldn't be a fee involved though.

I think Wilder has dealt with his contract situation in exactly the right way, but I still have an uneasy feeling about losing the duffmeister. Tufty ball was (quite literally) made for him. A few have tried to take his place, but ultimately failed. We have made a lot of signings (all good and positive stuff) but I think it is important that we don't compromise our DNA as a team. Duff has been instrumental in all that we have achieved over the past 3 years.

Its a tough one because it seems like he's been a silly lad, but I'd love him to stay.

This. Exactly this.

So is this the end of Duffy? Not much else has been said about him lately.

That glowing report for Bryan makes sense.
Most Blades don’t rate him, but that’s based on the very little we’ve seen of him in action.
The significant part though is that Chris Wilder clearly DOES rate him....so that’s good enough for me.

I would take what our fans think of players with a large pinch of Salt.
Yes he didn't have a good game against Barnet but there was worse players that day.
I do think alot of our fans see a post slagging a player off and then jump on that band waggon without actually seeing him play.
Basham is a prime example and I think even Mcgoldrick wasn't popular when he first started I seem to remember couldn't hit a barn door with a Bango being said.

If Chris and Alan think he's has what it takes then we should accept that
I also think the fact he was a cheap signing was he even a free affects peoples opinions, would they have a different one if we had paid 5 million for him from City.

Duffys dad had his say on Facebook and said its tails between legs time for Mark. He doesn't sound happy about the whole situation.

Worst situation for Duffy, he's got a year to prove himself.
If he's thinking of going to Bolton he clearly needs to be locked up as much for his own safety.

If he has given Bolton any kind of consideration then he needs sectioning.

Your right he hasn't put a foot wrong in pre season and also most people have judged the lad on 1 game when he hadn't played a competitive game in over 10 months. And there were players who had played in the first team who didn't do any better that day football fans have every right to an opinion cos they pay the players wages at the end of the day . Not many on here give him a chance there will come a day when you need him so my friend I'm with you 👏👏

Spoke to someone today and they said the club have given Duffy until noon on Thursday to find a new club, if not the club will mutually agree to terminate his contract so he can still sign with someone after the window closes. If he finds a club before then it will still be a free transfer.

Seems the bridge is burned, no way back

Fuck !

It’s a shame but this is what happens in football, if he leaves I’ll still be wishing him all the best. He’s a proper player and any championship team would be lucky to have him. GLTTL

So in other words he's patched it up with CW and signed a new 3 year deal.

I'm gutted for the lad. He really ought to be involved in this year, and he was. He was well in contention, he ought to be enjoying every minute of the preparations and build up.

To have worked so hard to make this possible for himself, for us, for the whole club. He was instrumental. It's sad to think he might not get to be part of that now. What a player.
