Our "inspirational" captain says that just because we haven't achieved automatic promotion this shouldn't be seen as failure !!??!!
I think that this proves, beyond reasonable doubt, that he is NOT fit for purpose.
His personal performances this season have been, at best, disappointing. He has struggled to make an impression on what has been a poor quality League. many have commented that it's been our midfield mix "not working" this season which has been a major contributing factor to our mediocraty, particularly at home.
I would say, move him on in the summer, if possible but certainly replace him in the team. as has been said by many supporters before; you don't need to spend millions to assemble a consistent side in this Division and this is where we will be next season.

Doyle and the entire team can only see this as a failure. It's the biggest failure of failures. The team and management have fucked up what was a simple task. Last season can be excused because of points tallys and losing Ched. But this season holds no such excuses.

We have simply failed.

My only question is who has failed to deliver the most - Doyle or KMac? I've not seen either play to their potential.

In a season that the league was there for us to walk away with we could end up 6th. Even then I would say we werent the 6th best team in the league

McCabe said last week that automatic was the plan. The plan has failed and his club captain Is dressing it up.

Doyle as been overall a very poor captain and poor player this season. but we lack any leadership in this team. McMahon probably is best bet to take over as he can be a character on the field, more so then Doyle and Collins.

Didn't Wilson spend all season trying to convince them they were only a couple of performances away from being the "real deal", that didn't work, we've changed the manager (and presumably management style), that doesn't appear to be going that well, what's left? A good old fashioned rocket up the arse?

Who knows what motivates this shower, it certainly isn't much we've seen recently.

It would be a nice change of pace imo - minus the swearing and stuff, no need for this sugar coating. we always do to lick our wounds, that has never got us anywhere. We need a player/ manager that tells it straight we have been crap this season and we need to buckle down and bully teams out of the league if we have too.

I can see your point ........ except for the fact that we all know that the season is over for us already. We haven't the players, the team performance, the finisher, the winger, or the bottle to do it in the playoffs. Our season ended when the "Management" didnt replace Miller when he was injured in December. he was our only natural finisher.

Agree ....... this Season is the worst quality that this League has seen for a while and is likely to see for a while. There has been no stand-out team at all and we have been one of the better of a very mediocre bunch of teams. With Miller playing and fit all season and a decent winger with pace, we would have certainly "bossed" the Division. I would suggest that next season will certainly be more difficult for us in this League.

Such a statement shows Doyle has no concept of what's expected of a team that's paid the highest salaries in the division, is by far the best supported and playing in a very poor division. Does he not realise us long suffering supporters will have the additional expense of the play offs. The sooner he's dropped or sold the better.

If we kept the squad we had start of the season fully fit, then yeah I could have seen us secure auto. We all know now what impact Miller and Blackman had for the squad.

I heard Doyle on the radio this morning saying that our squad had not underachieved and there were better teams in this division than us. Whilst I fully agree with his 2nd point (there are better teams) I would beg to differ on his first point and would think 90% of Blades fans think we have definately underachieved as a squad especially with the budget we have had at our disposal .
I would think that Doyle is one of the better paid players in this division and think he has been totally pants this season.
