So he compares last seasons squad to this, says they're effectively the same thing, and then (in a later tweet) mutes notifications because Blades fans called him out for not researching the point.

To highlight the absolute blinder he's had here, he comes out with this absolute gem:

The standard of football discourse in this country is fucked anyway (look at shite like AFTV or that Rory Jennings cretin), but the talk around United is even worse

Well, he is right about BBD and McBurnie. Archer and Foderingham – LOL.

On Bogle it is hard to speculate. He is a very different player to Gilchrist, who has been our main RB this season. Would definitely get a lot of minutes, but starter or not, would depend on what CW wants to see on the pitch in a particular game.

But him ignoring incomings of Cooper, Souttar, Burrows, JRS – what the actual fuck.

e: One more important aspect. I think, when coming down, first few games are extremely important. Start badly and the morale just keeps getting lower and lower. Basically what happened to Luton – paper thin squad, some injuries at the beginning of the season and the hole is extremely deep to dig out from. Even if on paper you should have a squad capable of challenging TOP 6, when everyone just does not believe in their ability to win, it gets very difficult. And might need a change of leadership. Basically what happened to us when we went down in 20/21.

He's probably never heard of them. Whereas Archer is still signed for a Prem team so clearly he's a great player 🙄

Not sure what's wrong with original tweet?
He's saying we're effectively the same squad, nothing has changed and we'd still concede the same amount.

He doesn't factor in any of the changes or the recruitment (and then does later by saying we've got even worse squad wise), and is effectively saying "Look how shit they were and still are, how bad must the rest of you be"

His logic works for someone playing Championship Manager: Season 01/02

As pointed out, he omits to say how we've also strengthened, which makes his point almost meaningless.

Yes, there's a massive gap between the leagues. No shit Sherlock.

Mates a Southampton fan - he can't believe he actually gets minutes, let alone got signed
His next move will be Championship I think, or abroad. Two relegation battles in the Premier League done nothing for his career

Bogle would have been starting for us had he not gone to Leeds and we probably wouldn't have signed Gilchrist. Not sure we'd have been as tight defensively, but he definitely adds something going forward.

Fortheringham not as good as Cooper in my opinion

McBurnie, BBD and Archer would have got in our team because we lack forwards. But that misses the point about where our success has been this season. A complete overhaul of the defence and a rejuvenated Sousa has brought us to where we are.

Early days of course, but Seriki is looking better than Bogle. Has the skill that Jayden didn't - he can defend.

Bogle did very well for Leeds last night. Didn’t have much to do defensively but good going forward including a peach of a pass for an assist.

I'm a fan of Seriki and think he has plenty of potential. Not sure on the Bogle point though. His goal against Birmingham was some of best skill I've ever seen from a defender.

Sorry, Facebook link...
Isn't the point that he was a bang average defender, and as we've now gone to a back four that's very significant.

In that sense, we've undoubtedly upgraded.

Trusty went to Celtic so must be better than a 15 million pound defender signed by a premier league club apparently

Yeah this one is sensationally bad take - the transfers he’s talking about are:

Osula to Newcastle - hasn’t played
Archer to Villa (which was always going to happen as part of the deal for us to buy him in the first place) - now gone to Saints and on bench
Trusty to Celtic - 🤣🤣
Wes to West Ham - hasn’t played
Jebbison to Bournemouth - now on loan at Watford (and getting bullied by Souttar at the lane)

This Critchley bloke is an idiot. That he thinks Foderhingham would be in our team is on its own a stupid enough take for him to never be allowed to tweet again.

Much as I love McBurnie he was rarely fit, he was half injured or returning from injury. Even when he was fit he ran like he had wooden legs. He annoyed referees and therefore defenders could pull him all over the place. Yes I would love the McBurnie that was at Swansea and he would be a starter in this team But sadly the one we had would not.

Burnley are probably a better example than us of his original point. They won the championship title pretty easily and went up with a good side, strengthened (instead of selling the best players in the team), looked like they would get relegated from the first game to the last, and did. And now they look a good bet to go straight back up again.
This summer they did some summer transfer business which left them with a fairly similar squad and a few like-for-like replacements from the little I’ve seen of them (whereas we did a complete overhaul of the entire squad and team shape). If they go up, I think they will come straight back down again. Point proven.
He just wanted to bring in our woeful goals conceded record last year, and very low points tally - which requires a bit more nuance than PREMIER LEAGUE HIGH STANDARD CHAMPIONSHIP LOT LOWER (even though that point is broadly valid).

Yep, that's fair. Was just replying to the claim that Seriki is more skilful than Bogle.
