Rapid and appropriate action taken by the FA in booting Barnsley out of the FA Cup for fielding an ineligible player in the last round. A somewhat different approach to that taken in 2007 when a London “establishment” club committed a similar offence across a whole season.

FA, not PL. Totally different.

There's examples as long as your arm for the FA kicking teams out of the cup

Not in the Premier League though. Aren't Everton just the 3rd ?

Ironically, Middlesbrough were docked points for not having enough players to play the game. If only they could play an ineligible player 🤣
Yes, sounds about right. I know the Premier League is largely a law unto itself but it’s still the “FA” Premier and therefore, presumably subject to its jurisdiction on player registrations?

Don't even think this is the first time it's happened to Barnsley if memory serves

It seems not in so many ways.

The PL was in effect the bigger clubs getting together to make the top division more exclusive. Clubs like Everton, Arsenal, ManUtd, Liverpool etc. they didn't think that the money distribution was fair prior to the premier League. They felt that the top of the top division should get way more.

The PL is kinda like a club. We keep getting let in but we are far from a member.

Have we reached that point of the international break? We’re into digging up the rotting corpse of the Carlos Tevez affair? What next? A bit of Ched? 😆
