Worth a look at Dagnall?
Was a bit embarrassing today when sections sang the Beattie song, what must the players on the pitch think we they hear it?

Reasons not to sign Beattie:
1. Although he would have to take a drop in wages, he will still be on a hefty amount.
2. He's scored 9 goals since leaving us 2 1/2 yrs ago.
3. He doesn't have pace.
4. *And the most significant* He is too similar a style player to the 3 senior strikers at the club. If we bring in another striker it's someone who should give us something different - see point 3.
I'm not in any doubt that he is a good player and point 2 maybe irrelevant as he will be coming to division 3 and not playing in the premiership. But imo we need pace in attack and cover at the back. Beattie is neither of these.
So, yesterday, Porter was poor by all accounts, but the next day we still get threads saying we already have players in Beattie's position and role who can do the job he would do.
First half yesterday, by all accounts our attacking play didn''t work at all and we struggled to create chances, yet the next day we still get threads saying we should add a striker type similar to the ones that played...![]()
A striker who has played most of his career in the top flight as oppose to two players who have not....thus surely an improvement in quality?
Beattie would be a very poor signing, lazy, couldn't care less and far to similar to what we already have in the striking department. The poor displays from Cresswell and Porter were par for the course from Beattie when he was here. He's not interested in United anyway. And yes very embarrassing the fans singing for a player who doesn't even play for us.
Be much better taking a punt on a young hungry striker with pace and a bit of aggression.
Touche Bergs.
Regardless, you know as well as I know, that a player with no pace but good positional awareness can always find space to allow for a better number of chances to be created. And it's no doubt more than a little simplistic to say we didn't score in the first half due to not having a pacy striker up front... I refer you to a certain Mr Slew's set of mediocre performances this season.
I will take all of this back if Danny pulls of a stormer and gets in someone like Ravel Morrison.
I certainly did, however some players just don't click with the manager/style of play.Did anyone think that when we signed Marcus Bent last year..?
