ok in the last transfer market we sold beattie and got ward so there’s a few million sold tong for 2m and got Howard for half now we sold two more players and have around 10m.
I bet we don’t spend 10m in transfer fee's this transfer market.
The rest of the transfer funds would have been covered by the gates and sponsorships’ and advertising so how exactly are we looking to invest in the first team? yer I know what’s coming wages blar blar blar stable funding blar blar and don’t say stadium extension fans don’t come to watch teams lose
all im saying is i hope thers some good signings coming tomorow

Did selling Jones and Birchenhall strengthen the team, Tony Currie

All before my time, but no. Looking back, very big sums were paid, and this was in the days of the benefactor. They were sums which couldn't be turned down. It did cost us dear, but nothing like the financial sums at the moment when placed proportionally. We did get back fairly quickly.

Couldn't handle Division Two football in England, and was ultimately disappointing really.

Brian Deane twice, Fjortoft

I'll certainly grant you those. In my opinion they're more relevant, and the first sale of Deane in particular. When Deane went in 1993, St Dave of Bassett is alleged to have used the words "You've just relegated us." to Reg Brealey after Deano was sold when Harry was on holiday. A referee's whistle thirty seconds earlier could just have saved us.

That said, selling Deane almost certainly cost us our place in the top flight, but it's not the same as the Deane/Fjortoft matter which derailed us mid-season.

This is the real 'Thanks Board, you REALLY fucked us up." moment. By this point £££££ was the overriding factor. I remember waking up to go to work and putting Radio Five on, and not believing a word of what was said.

Dellas, Borbokis

They were 'homesick'. I believe that ladies who run certain dance troupes may be able to confirm this.

did ANY of these sales strengthen the team or did hard times soon follow ?

How many successful sides have there been in the 32 years of following United which I have? Not many, I'd say. In that time, we've spent six years in the top division. We've spent five in the bottom two.

Now in the last six months we have sold the crown jewels yet again, so why will it be any different this time, we are still a selling club and McCabe is no different to the shite that has gone before him. NO AMBITION.

When will people understand? Every club is a selling club now! That's how you stay alive! Look at Manure.

You want to go back to the days of Brealey/Hinchliffe/Woolhouse? Go for it, and take your moaning away.

We're in better hands than we ever have been. Time for Destruction, Kreator, Helloween and the Xentrix version of "Ghostbusters". Need a headbang.
