Dons love George

They are wrong, he's wank. I know that because the numerous 'coaches' on here have told us so. In reality I'm delighted for the lad. Always had the tools to be a very good keeper (which it seems he's become). I hope he has a good career wherever he ends up (don't think it will be with us of I'm honest as some fans won't forget he had a tough spell here).

Yep. He'd be one clanger away from being jeered again!

However, Blackman has shown this season what a PL quality GK adds to the team, and I'm crossing fingers & toes we find a way to get him back. As good as Moore and Long are, Blackman is a class above.

Good on him. I feel the same way about the above posts though, if he came back here he'd be one mistake away from getting jeers.

Important to remember that before this season the only experience that Blackman had under his belt was a good season in league 2 with Wycombe. With the season he's been having if George would have been coming in this summer as a new signing I'd bet people would have a different attitude.

Pleased for him, nice lad and a decent keeper. Hope he goes on to have a good career.

I never doubted his ability, it was a combination of playing such an important role probably a year or two too early in his career and then his confidence took too many knocks, but then you look back at the defenders in front of him at the time and even Peter Shilton would have struggled in some games

I can't help remembering when Collins shouted at him during that woeful performance at Gillingham some years ago.

Very unfair and counter productive, for a seasoned professional to chastise a clearly rattled and nervous young player.

HH

Maybe someone should have "held a mirror up" to Collins at the time. Stick to blog writing Neil, you're better at talking about football than playing it.

I don't think they'll be too much difference between Long and Moore now.

You have to think that’s likely. Moore was decent in league 1 but not outstanding. Seems Long has had an outstanding season in a lesser side.

Moore has improved (to my eye) this year, but not a step change. It’ll be interesting to see if Wilder gives Long a chance or just sells him on now.

Because Collins was a cunt who would blame everyone but himself.

Must be a Neil thing, except me obviously. I don't blame everyone else, I'm just a cunt ;)

Neill Collins was a wanker, that's why

By the time he left us, Collins had developed shouting at other people to cover for his own mistakes into a genuine art form. It was about the only aspect of his game that he really worked on, and improved, while he was with us. Apart, perhaps, from widening his turning circle.

Up there with Calamity Claude, for me, as contender for Worst Centre Half to represent the Blades in the last decade.

I find that keepers tend to stand out more in poor sides though as they have more to do. Moore turned our team around in league 1. He commanded the back three and brought a calmness to the team that we really needed. He didn’t really have a lot to do last season after all. Having said that, George stood out as a shaky keeper when playing for our “Hammond, Sammon and the totally forgettable midfielder beginning with W” side.

All conjecture at present.

The wankers who got on Long's back were a tiny vocal minority who some seem to confuse with more who constructively doubted his performances on places like this.

Moore and Blackman both have their faults but imho are a pretty good unit with Eastwood as back up for a club with our finances.

Whether Long can step up none of us know I suppose until he's tested.

I only wish the lad the best but I can't pretend how much more confident I felt with Moore last season.

Does this thread have to turn into another thread criticising Neill Collins. I agree he shouldn't have shouted to George Long and yes he made mistakes but he was a decent centre half for League One in his first 2 seasons but we failed to get out of League One and then he started to get slower and older .For 150,000 grand I didn't think he was a bad buy at all. He also got the club ad loved his time with us.

I can't help noticing the distinct lack of career advisors on these types of thread nowadays.
Well done Jud. You deserve all the accolades.

I’ve no vendetta against him (by all accounts he’s a good bloke), but his tenure coincided with the worst period of our entire history. He was adequate for a while in league 1 and that’s the best I can do.

Same with Doyle. Both panic signings on a downward curve.

Oh, and GLTTL, obvs... :)
