Done injury

We've done without him all pre season up to now, save for the Newcastle game, and the team have done well and showed some promise.

It would be nice to start the season with him fit but we will cope without him for a month or two and then have a nice welcome boost later in the year with both Done & Brayford getting fit and adding to the squad.

Done's injury was such a disappointing moment for one of our best players. Most importantly is that the club make sure Done receives the very best medical attention and then careful rehabilitation. As far as I'm concerned he's one of the jewels in the Bramall Lane crown. I know there was a sense of feeling underwhelmed when we signed Done last season - he wasn't known, it didn't smack of the type of signing we should be making, and on and on - but once he donned that red and white shirt it was obvious we had something different and special in this man. I hope Matt makes a speedy recovery and that his return adds to our promotion push. He's different, he plays with an almost schoolboy fearlessness, he makes life hell for defenders, and he has that fortunate knack of being in the right place at the right time to help the ball over the line. Good luck Matt, I hope you return in good health and continue your rich vein of form.

I once saw a lad at pitz play with a broken leg. Was hobbling around with a full cast on. What an absolute nobhead.

A team mate of mine (he died in 2009) broke his ankle in a 6 a side tournament at Manchester (same day we lost that home game against Walsall in 1981), next day he had plaster cast put on but a week later he cut the whole cast off so that he could play in a cricket match

Jesus. I retract my nobhead reference and seem him a man of man.

And when I broke my collar bone it took 6 weeks in a sling, 2 weeks later I was back playing football. Would be shocked if Done wasn't on the bench by the end of September.

which is about what it says in the NHS website, 6 to 8 weeks

Matty Done was taken to Calow hospital following his injury at Matlock. I know this because my dad was rushed into the same hospital on Tuesday evening. I've been over last few days visiting and making sure he's OK.

S'pose I could've checked up on my dad at same time.

True he wasn't well know but he was already up there as one of the divisions top scorers. Lot of credit is due to Keith Hill for that I gather.

Hope he can pick up where he left off when he gets back in the groove

Mattys in for his op with the best shoulder surgeon in the world on Tuesday so he will be back before we know it!! UTB

Decent player, disappointing to lose him but Jesus, talk about overrating someone.

I rated Done based on his level of performance since signing for the Blades. You clearly don't see him in the same light as many of our supporters, that's ok, it takes all sorts. Let's hope that something this minor doesn't get in the way of you and I appreciating what I hope are an improvement over last season's performances.

Not In the know but I would have thought. done would been operated on very quickly after the injury was diagnosed as the bodies reaction to broken bones,is to set about repairing the damage almost straight away and allowing a weakened bone to heal before a surgeon has manipulated any lose bone into place.perhaps some. Dr blade could. Put us in the picture of procedures in injuries of this kind.

Lol im not a doctor but i have a little knowledge in this area and unless you have it done on the NHS (urm i dont think so!!) or it was a compound fracture they wouldnt have operated straight away. Seriously one of the best surgeons in the world is based in Sheffield and i heard that Matts in on Tues as thats when he operates privately. Shoulders are a tricky thing and if they get it wrong you're shagged for life so he would have waited and gone with the best as have many other well known sports people. I may have got it wrong but i doubt it.

Who else has come close to scoring 20 goals per season for us since Ched? Its a case of all the strikers we have at our disposal now is great, we have pace, strength, height and no doubt GOALS so why wouldnt you want a player who can play in several different positions to be fit and healthy? Of course you would!!!
