Not going today.
If you are a Blackwell out person and have decided you're not going anymore.
Comments besides 'one good performance changes nothing' welcome.

I went and today's win doesn't change a thing.

If we beat a side above us I might say we have a small chance of top 6 but you've got to judge today on how pathetic Bristol were.

Any team can only play as well as the opposition lets it.

I sat next to a Bristol City fan on the train back to Leeds and he thought that we were outstanding.

All a matter of perception I suppose.

To be quite honest as someone who has been critical of Blackwell during recent weeks, i do regret going today as seeing Sheffield United play well and win doesn't suit my agenda, and the hard earned money i spent on my season ticket is wasted if we win. In fact i only bought it in the hope that we lost every game, and that i could sing songs like "Blackwell Out, What a load of rubbish, and Your not fit to wear the shirt"

I was actually hoping that we would get beaten 3-0, so i could have gone to the car park and test out the capabilities of the two pairs of insulated socks when i took my shoes off in protest at Kevin Blackwell.

Anyway, i'm going to quietly log off here, as i can't spend all night on here dissecting what went wrong today, instead i have an excellent performace and a win to reflect on.

I think i shall take my disappointment in seeing the club i love win a game with a good performance by knocking ten bells of shit out of the wife, drowning next doors kitten and then burning down the local scout hut.

If we keep on winning games like we have done today, then in a few weeks you will find me attached to a tree in Greno Woods by a length of rope tied round my neck.

But at least you will be able to say, i told you so, eh Boo?

Simple question and you read in to it what?
anyway you went it was directed to those who didn't.

Wrong. It does change a thing. It changes the perception that Blackwell can only send a team out to play one way. It also provides hope that things might be better than they have been.

Seriously, why look for negatives after a performance like that? Why not just enjoy it tonight?

I suppose your comments are directed at supporters like me and you are making this comment based on the back of the best display of proper football we have seen in a long time.

If Blackwell has well and truly 'seen the light' and we can expect this level of performance everytime we go to a game then he will have mine and countless others support for the long term.

If he reverts back to the senseless and ridiculous hoofball tactics then he will not.

Simple as that.

It just shows what can be achieved when a team is set up correctly from the start and allowed to expess themselves.

PS don't give me that ' he hasn't had the money to spend' rubbish. He has had and wasted plenty.

Anyway like all Blades will say ' more of the same please' !

Amen to that. Sums it up perfectly. Credit where credit is due, he sent out a team to play football today. But he needs to carry it on.

Regardless, I'm enjoying tonight!!!:)

Well said. Did you take the young un again today?

I forgot that he shut the light off. He never had it - no not even in the play off semi at home, best football for years but I suppose if he can only do it with a settled side he's no good. Just got lucky today, go on then you've convinced me, Blackwell out Simple as that.

What a clever well thought out reply.

So by your reckoning that's 2 good performances in nearly a year !

If you are happy with mediocrity so be it.
When you have been brought up with the likes of Mick Jones, Tony Currie and Alan Woodward, some of us have a litlle bit higher expectations.

No, he's on a Cubs camp in York this weekend, but he still hasn't shut up about the Blades since last Saturday!!:)

Good on him. You do realise he'll be right mad at you making him go on that camp if you tell him how good we were.

Yes i was brought up with those people too. Now for the name drop, I do work for Mick Jones on a regular basis!
But we cannot live in the past now can we.
So according to you we've never played well apart from today and the play off semi?

Good on him. You do realise he'll be right mad at you making him go on that camp if you tell him how good we were.

I've got him the programme to make up for it!

I am really chuffed that he chose the Blades. We live in Pig Central, and there is only one other Blade in his class. I'm not taking the credit for it, Mark Todd has had a lot to do with it. Our little 'un sees him a lot, he lives nearby & drops his daughter off at the school most days, wearing a Blades training kit. His daughter is my daughter's best friends & they go to each other's houses a lot. Toddy is brilliant with kids, has a real rapport, and all the kids know he is an ex pro. Luke thinks Mark is a lot cooler than his old man, and I think that was a big factor in his conversion.

You know as well as anyone that by and large we have not played well since the debacle of the play off final.

At best we have been inconsistant.

If we continue in the same attitude as we have today then Blackwell will go up in a lot of peoples estimation. He has been given a massive boost today. He must continue in the same mould. Look how much better Henderson looks as a footballer when he does not constantly have to battle for the ball everytime .
Ball to feet - width - pace and a bit of skill brings it's rewards and the manager will get the plaudits.
Just a pity it's took until the middle of February to look like we are getting it together.
PS. Give my regards to Mick. Not seen him since he had the sports shop in Maltby !

Donny - so called footballing side, totally outplayed them they had 1 chance and scored a poxy goal, Reasonable football but not outstanding. goes to prove your inconsistant theory. but you wont allow the excuse of not being able to play a consistant side.
The rest of what you said is obvious.
Do you want him out?
PS Mick lives in S25 areaand i will.

Donny do play some stuff. They play it consistantly well. If they had our resources no doubt they would be able to progress quicker but hat's off to them. They have achieved a lot over the past few years.

We may not have been able to produce a settled side for much of the season but I think a lot of Blackwell's problems have been worrying too much about the opposition and not concentrating on the strengths of the players he has.

So, I don't go along with the 'new players needing time to settle' theory. It all about having the framework in place in order that players know what their role is.
Cast your mind back to a game a the Lane a few years ago against West Ham.
I think they played 5 new players that night, only signed arlier in the day (including Deane and Harley) finished 3-3 (I think).

I agree with that. We plan to contain the opposition & sneak a result through a war of attrition, but we proved today, admittedly against an ordinary (not poor) side that is low on confidence, that if we play to the strength of our players, and we do have some footballers, we can be a good side.

Just a thought - how would Kyel Reid have fared in our line up today?

Good point Nick and sadly one which I don't think we will ever know the answer to.

So that frame work would be playing people in their best positions which he did today when he had the chance . Unlike when he had to play Monty at RB and when he played Willo wide right.?- Manager finaly getting a settled side?

that would be the sensible, non hysterical view, yes.

Still not convinced about his handling of younger players. But today he certainly put to bed any thoughts that he doesn't have a Plan B. Nobody can use that argument any more with any credibility. They can certainly call for his head if he goes back to hoofing it, and I will be one of the first after seeing what we did today, but anybody who says that he can only play with one style can safely be ignored from now on, obviously they were wrong.

But if we line up negatively against Forest & try & fail to grind out a draw, he will deserve the criticism which will inevitably follow.

The jury remains out & we will see, but he did himself a lot of good today.

Now Boo. That's a daft thing to say. He didn't have to play Monty at full back.
We had centre backs playing full back when we had full backs on the bench,
We had strikers playing on the wing and vice versa. Williams out wide.
(Plus his insistance of playing the ginger one no matter what)
That's not playing to strengths is it mate.
Today, for me, proves the point and that Henderson is a better player when we play proper football to feet.

I went today , would be silly not to having bought a ST ......... and all I can say is ... keep reading the knockers posts Blackie , how long have we been asking for todays line up with width and pace ?

Nick we went through a spell when Little 1st came to the club when we were playing some decent stuff on the floor and getting results v Watford , Leicester home and Reading away ... so why the hoof between those games at the start of the season and now ?

Didn't know there was a stay away protest on , I would have thought the reduced attendance would be more down to it being freezing cold and people getting their xmas credit card bills in myself.

Dunno - players being sold? Injuries? Massive turnover in personnel? I think those are valid excuses for some very "pragmatic" football.

If we slip back it will feel even worse, because today we saw what we can do.
I think it was a combination of the quite reasonable excuses above & a desperation not to lose games. I think he is naturally very cautious, but has acquired a few footballlers who don't naturally sit with that caution.

After today,it will be very interesting to see what comes next. I agree with the "one swallow doesn't make a summer" comments, we could easily revert. I could see that happening at Forest, and it would undo all the good that today did.

I worry that we only did that today against Bristol City because we were at home against a side having a bad time, I really hope I am wrong.

We will see.

KB will be pooing his pants on Tuesday , IMO it will be a return to one up top and the hoof !

Your point about him being too cautious is the main reason we don't see many games like todays !

I have an uneasy feeling that you are right.

But let's see what Tuesday brings. We have either turned a corner, or been horribly toyed with.

We'll see.
