As I've stated before, Blackwell isn't a shit manager. Many people seem to be confusing "shit" with "not got us promoted" or even "not won the Champion's League". I don't believe he will get us promoted, but I also don't believe we'll drop out of the division with him at the helm. We'll probably flirt with the play-offs at best, and finish halfway at worst.

This might be acceptable if the football was proper edge-of-the-seat entertaining stuff, but it's not, and that might be what does for him in the end. Not the lack of promotion, but serving up football that makes people wish they were somewhere else. If the style changes then so might my opinion, and we have shown in flashes that we can play some decent stuff occasionally, but not in enough quantities. I don't mind a few minutes of hoof in a game of skill, what pisses me off is a few glimmers of skill in a game of hoof. Perhaps Henderson being injured might be a blessing in disguise.

KB on the official site:
"I hope the fans turn out in numbers to come and watch, arguably, the Real Madrid and Barcelona of South America. They play the game like artists and if ever I could develop my team along those lines then I would."

And with similar sentiments if ever I could drive a Ferrari through Meadowhall with Iron Maiden at full blast on the stereo as I mow down polyester-clad shoplifting chav scum by the score and not get locked up for it, I would.

We often play like mime artists, and more often than that, Piss Artists.

I'm not going to give my answer until I've seen a couple of pages from Ollie with all the financial implications

I'm with Shorehamview on this, he is not a brilliant manager as few exist. But as the Championship goes he is one of the 'better' managers, most alternatives mentioned each time this comes up are unlikely to have any greater level of success. Warnock got us up but seems to be remembered more for his final year. Reality is that the manager is only one of the factors, a lot of other things have to fall into place for a run of success - the manager is just the easiest and cheapest target. I await with interest to see who makes up the final squad. Despite all the talk about being slow I do think we are building a good squad, not there yet, but hopefully the defence will come too.

I don't rate him. He talks utter bollocks constantly. His tactics are awful. He has little forward thinking when it comes to the squad.

Aside from all that, he's in charge and I'm willing to give him another chance this season. There have been rare occasions when we've looked very good and for once, he's actually come out and said a number of good things about what needs to happen next season.

He gets 10 games for me. Unless of course we get an extremely good or bad run.

As I mentioned in another thread, your 10 match 'life', is it just based on success or failure? How would you judge success win every game but play hoofball or lose more than you win by playing 'attractive' football?

Football is a results business but it is also an entertainment business. I want United to be successful and play attractive football but I'm not convinced we can with the squad we have, they may be able to grind out results that make us relatively successful and as professional footballers should be capable of passing a football and playing more expansively but by playing that way would mean more errors and more goals against imho.

An option for me isn't there. I am pretty much against him but he isn't going to be changed just yet. If stories are to be believed the sword of Damocles is squarely over his head therefore I'm happy for us to start the season and see where we go. As long as it drops should performances not be a drastic improvement on last season I'm a happy clapper. Basically ask me again in November.

Only 134 voters. Come one you rotten buggers. There is even an option for apathetic, don't care or don't want to vote now.

>Its almost 50/50
yep.. that is the problem.. the club is split right down the middle (literally it would seem) on this issue

Just listening to football heaven from last night. Blackwell is actually talking really well and there are some really awful questions to answer.

Wait until you hear him give a bloke the hair-dryer treatment. The bloke had a right niggle at him over his tactics - quite sly it was. Blackwell makes him look a pillock to be fair. Cant help feeling sorry for the bloke afterwards!

Absolutely no sympathy for the prat who asked the question. Simmo weak kicking compared with Paddy? It was a bullshit question devised just to have a pop at the style of play.

I thought Blackwell answered it really well, although putting pressure on himself to play football this season. The bloke should of had the balls to question Blackwells style directly rather than have a sly dig at Simmo as well.

Yeh you're probably right. Blackwell did himself the world of good with the way he answered it though. I dont recall Simmo's kicking being bad at all either!

Just goes to show the rubbish you can get from people who think they know football, but actually they have no idea.

Did I hear right, that the WC2018 question came from a guy who said he was from the council..?

Why the feck did the good taxpayers of Sheffield pay for that?

Enjoyed Blackwells contribution. Some solid and sensible points with a nice touch of humour...

That's me, too.
