You don't have to make contact for it to be a foul............right Stevie G

Seriously though, if you aim a kick at somebody it's a sending off

If he threw a punch and missed it would be the same so I don't understand why a footballer should be excused because he used his feet to try to assault somebody

I'd totally disagree with that assessment of what happened to Hume. I was there that day and think Morgan was wrongly vilified. It was assumed his actions were deliberate because the natch was like a pressure cooker that had just boiled over with Egiogu having seen red but I always thought his arm actions were to help thrust his head forward towards the ball. Hume was beavering around him and though Morgs might have known he was around him he would have had to have eyes in the back of his head to have premeditated what was done. It was all too easy to blame him. Morgs was exactly what Blades fans like in a player. Committed, hard but fair

I'm in no way slagging him... one of my favourite all time players... however removing the biased spectacles that was a horrific use of an elbow ... wasn't there a replay of it clearly showing showing him sizing him up before leading in with the elbow? He also had plenty of previous ... was there yhevteam he picked Van Persia up and upper cut him to the ribs?

Morgan was the type of player you would hate as an opposition fan but love as one of your team (like Costa for Chelsea)

Everyone's entitled to an opinion. Have never seen a video of it and has nothing to do with biased tinted spectacles but I saw it clearly on the day and couldn't disagree more. In general if Morgs dished it out it was usually warranted. He had many a tussle and usually just got on with things. Too many modern players can dish it out but not take it. You could never level that at Morgs. He never went looking for it. The only player I ever saw outmuscle him for 90 mins was Shefki Kuqi...... and that was a one off

I always felt that Morgs was a player who relished the physical side of the game. He dished it out within the rules and took it in his stride and got on with the game when he was on the receiving end. But there was nothing malicious about him and I feel he never set out to injure any players.

Part of it goes with how rules are enforced in football in such a way as to encourage play acting. Don't go down, you don't get a free-kick, penalty, or card in your favour even if the rules indicate it should.

I remember Akinbiyi getting pulled all over the place in the box, and using his strength to stay on his feet and get a shot away, and everyone knew that he'd made the wrong choice in regard to winning the match because you don't get a decision unless you make it clear you want it. A player puts his hands up or pushes an opponent, you know they're getting a red if and only if your player remembers to clutch his face and fall to the ground. If they don't make it clear enough, the ref will find an excuse to show a yellow or nothing at all. If a player kicks out at you, that's violent conduct regardless of the connection, but how many refs will enforce it if the other player doesn't do his bit and pretend to be a professional athlete who's weak as a kitten?

You get it in the analysis too on TV, "There's not enough contact for me" or "He's got to be stronger", as if there's a rule in place that places minimum strength requirements or that fouls in the box are only fouls if they're particularly bad.

What a complete load of bollocks I was at that game and saw it same as spongebobblade, if anything Hume ran in to do Morgan but copped the elbow and came off worse. I have never seen any such video showing Morgan deliberately leading with the elbow and I'm fairly sure one does not exist, maybe all you have seen is a still photo and these can be very deceiving and make something look completely different to what actually happened. Strange how the court case never happened, no evidence to support your theory and no case to answer.

The Prem can shove its elitist bollocks up its own arse when youre getting this kind of tripe going on...its only going to get worse, 2 years ago Alli was a cracking talent and a pleasure to watch and hopes that he is/was the bright light to lead England forwards perhaps..but nope, he's steadily turned into the type of player any proper decent football fan hates seeing.

He deserves putting in the twats thread too

I remember Vincent Pericard once attempted a total swan dive in front of the kop and the whole ground burst into laughter.

I've always felt that, as a group, Blades are less tolerant of divers than other clubs. I'm basing that on absolutely nothing other than a hunch, but what the hell.

Yep, retrospective punishment should be 10 game ban. Might make em think.

How poor was Naughton for Swans in that game. Wash to blame for at least 2 of the goals and seemed totally disinterested.

For everyone talking about diving and cheating. Just gonna leave this here. Everything thats wrong with the game

Jan Aga and David Kelly always went down easily enough.

Billy can sometimes be a bit embarrassing but his other hard work of winding defenders up is par for the course.

Just watching Notts and Newcastle on television. Shelvey sent off for kicking out at Lansbury after Lansbury had taken his legs. Ok he kicks out but no connection and Lansbury goes down as if shot. No connection from Shelvey, whilst there is from Lansbury who took his legs. Lansbury is a cheating shit and should get a yellow, Shelvey, is stupid but arguably hard done by. Then Lansbury (scuse my ignoramus approach but I am a simple man) crumples as though the entire effect of the gravity of Jupiter has hit him when touched by a Forest player, who then gets sent off and a penalty awarded.

Having seen all this, if I were offered Shelvey or Lansbury this or next season, I would puke. One is a liability the other is a cheat. Its like us oldsters accepting Franny Lee into our midst FFS. Is this just old Blades talking or do the youngsters think its acceptable?

Would you accept signing a cheating twat and which ones?
I'm Not_a_Cheat :)

I've watched the video about thirty times after it happened. Hume tried to clatter him from behind so Morgan sticks his arm out to protect himself. It was one of those that you do knowing your opponent will run into it and get hurt but you don't care because he's doing so in an attempt to hurt you. He obviously wasn't intending to do the damage he did, that was just unfortunate. It certainly wasn't an incident where he was deliberately trying to 'do him'.

Just seen a lowlight from one of the FA cup games, player 1 beats player 2 down the line and is held back. Player 1 pushes player 2 away, and player 2 gets Japanese sniper syndrome. Player 1 sent off.

Cheating by crap player, crap referee falls for it, everything I hate about football in one microcosm.
