Mid December I'd be saying sign one. But now all the players have stepped up a notch, Flynn and Murphy cause as much problems from the wings than a striker would. Coady these last few games has seen net. We all know Scougall will deliver more goals. We have big Harry causing threats every corner.

I like Clough's system what he has in place, our main attack derives from our midfield. Ok maybe that shows that we need a striker but if our midfield play like they have done for the past 5 matches I'm confident we'll stay in this league comfortably!

imagine how many goals we could potentially get if we did have a proper striker up top feeding off the new found confidence of murphy, flynn, coady etc etc?

True

Think Cloughie will only bring someone in if they offer something genuinely different to what they already have and if they are the right sort of character.

The short answer is yes we do. When we had Blackman and Ched before that we were fighting for promotion, now we're in a relegation fight, we need a goalscorer.

Q.do we need a striker
a.two of them but who they are only clough knows

I feel we still need a goalscorer, you can never have too many... not that we do atm anyhow

Yes. We definitely do.

What worries me is that Clough has fallen into this way of thinking too. We have been playing well, but ultimately it's strikers that should be winning your games. Porter, Paynter and Miller is all we have in the ranks. How many league goals between them? half a dozen all season?

We just need 7 or 8 goals from someone to keep us up, but I don't think any of those 3 are capable of that.

Yes we do.

We can't rely on the midfielders to score all the time.

The thing that both Ched and Blackman had in common was the ability to hit the ball very hard while on the move and still keep it on target, this is what we are missing up front..

Imo, of course we do

We have lacked goals all season

How many times in 30 odd games and cup games have we managed more than 2 goals?

Any promotion chasing side has a proven striker with more goals being contributed to from other areas of the side

Absolutely spot on, Ched could make a goal out of nothing in some games

In fairness he spent his first two seasons making nothing out of anything. We had to drop a division for him to find his goalscoring touch.

At League 1 level Ched was brilliant.....the best striker in the division in his last season. It makes such a difference having a striker like that - he'd thrive with the likes of Murphy, Flynn & Scougall.

Don't forget Brayford either Deano, if we had a striker of real quality I think we'd find that Brayford would look to play him in throughout a game, but that's the next part of the jigsaw.....truth is, I'd love to see us have two quality forwards.

Fair point....Brayford like Scougall, was a cracking capture by Clough.

He was mate, quality player whose all-round game is impressive, best defender we've had for a long time. The way he motors forwards adds the type of attacking intent that many teams could only dream of. If we had those forwards the creative element in our team would either look for them as often as possible, or they would act as decoys to open space for the midfield to exploit, win win all round.
